Friend Is Looking At Purchasing This -Help Please
This is the first thread I have started and I'm hoping my 6speed brethren can help me out. A very good friend of mine is looking to buy a 996 and he is interested in this car. What do you all think of the car and what do you think a fair price would be? The car was listed on e-bay at a buyitnow price of $37,500 but did not sell. Any and all advice is very much appreciated

not bad- It's a much better deal at $37ish though.
Don't buy anything without a PPI and finding out what options it has. I noticed supple leather and dual power lumbar seats, that's a good start
I also noticed that it must be a late model year '02 since it has CD holder slots and possibly the CD in-dash head unit. Most '02s came with cassette and IIRC the change to CD came in '03.
If your friend likes it a lot, negotiate the price and have the sale completion contingent upon a clean PPI (i.e. nothing majorly wrong).
Good luck to your friend- Now go make him sign up an account on the six so you can stop playing middleman!! LOL

THANKS! - And Will Do :-)
P3...thanks for the great reply! I love the 6!!!! I copied your reply and sent it to him so he can sign up. I want him to buy a P car and then he will be hooked to the joys of Porsche ownership and from that point forward there is no turning back (insert evil laugh here...
Honestly though, I truly appreciate you taking the time to reply.

no problem EB, glad to help. Look forward to having him here so we can break him in properly
.
Be sure to tell your friend to not get discouraged if it takes thee or four days for his signup here to get approved. that's kind of normal. Were you able to go test drive the car?

dhc - thanks and I sent you a PM.
P3 - I'm going to get on his case to sign up even if he hasn't yet purchased the best car ever made (biased, I know
) part of the problem is that both he and I live in Sacramento and the car is in the San Diego area. I have some friends that live down there so I'm going to have them check it out.

+1 on PPI.
Check for RMS and other warranty work history (available from selling dealer). Ideally it would already have had the 997 RMS seal installed.

sms, thanks for taking the time to respond. I'll make sure and tell him to do that. I'm going to call one of my friends in SD and have him take a drive over to get a better look and setup a PPI.
P3, will do. I hope he pulls the trigger. He's mentioned purchasing a P car before and is itching to get one but time will tell I guess. I called up my buddy to check it out for him so we shall see. I do appreciate all of everyones time and great advice.
