Powdercoating the exhaust tips DOES NOT work

Had my tips ceramic coated recently. They were scratched before they even got on my car because the finish is so fragile. Took them back and had them powder coated instead. Figured since it wasn't a turbo, exhaust temp wouldn't be an issue and the PC process would hold up. PC cures at around 450.

Got home after the Suncoast meet, and it's already coming off the edges. I ran my finger across the inside and the PC wiped right off. Seems to be okay on the outside of the tip, just the edges and the inside are melting away. I'm sure it will start to look like crap before long.

Bummer, may have to go back to ceramic coating and just be really careful with it.

I saw another post about black chrome, but I have yet to find out what the process is and where you can get it done.

Another shot

I do like the look. Matches my wheels. Thanks to Suncoast for putting them on for me. Those tips are a pain in the *** to get lined up.

Yeah they do. I guess you get what you pay for. It was only like $10 a tip to PC them. Looks like I'll have to go the chrome route. I emailed Booth to see what pricing is like and turnaround time. They're almost too shiny in the chrome, but looks like it's the only thing that will work.
