I used the visor mount. Bent the angled piece flat an slid it into the top window trim piece. This puts it very high and it can not be seen from the outside. also hardwired the piece

I have a question, when I plug the V1 into the cig lighter socket does it ever turn off or will it stay on until the battery drains? It seems the the Cig Lighter is always on even when the key is removed and everything is off???

Is that right?

I have never used my cig lighter. My V-1 has always been hardwired.

The power to the lighter is probably continuous, regardless of ignition switch positioning. Just double check to make sure you don't drain the battery.

1. Hook up your V-1 via the lighter and start 'er up.

2. Woo Hoo! Don't you just love that sound?

3. The V-1 indicator lights should be lit.

4. Now, kill the ignition, take out the key, AND lock up the car to "set the alarm".

5. Are the V-1 indicators still lit? If so, you'll need to turn the unit on/off everytime you drive to avoid battery drainage.

6. The reason for #4 is that in my cab, some very faint courtesy lights stay on for minutes after the car has been locked up indicating that some devices are still powered for a few minutes even after locking up the car.

7. I recommend hardwiring your V-1 with the remote display. This way, all the indicators on the actual V-1 are OFF. No annoying lights at night to give you away! Plus, if you hardwire to a source controlled by the ignition, then you never have to turn your unit on/off. It happens automatically when you start the car.
