Sloppy SSK 996
Sloppy SSK 996
Anyone have a cure for a loose feeling Short shift kit? My 996 with an aftermarket SSK is MUCH sloppier than my boxster with the same. I mean, the two are night and day. The 996 has play before it goes into gear and you can move it around in Neutral a good bit.
The boxster assembly and cable linkage is basically the same, but it is much more mechanical and you really know where you are going when you cycle through the gears. Does anyone have a cure?
I thought about taking it out and tightening the front and rear bolts, also thought about playing with or replacing the shift linkage... any luck with this?

No, it wasnt B&M, but another brand that was not common, Something racing.. was actually more than the B&M. In my boxster I had the ebay knockoff and it was great!
Something is odd, and I have yet to investigate.

Check the shift linkage. The OEM piece is plastic and they tend to wear and get loose, sloppy. When I put in my B&M SSK I also put in the Agency Power shift linkage, which is made of aluminum and eliminates the play found the the OEM.
