Extended Warranty--get one

Several years ago I purchased an extended warranty for my 02-996. Warranty cost a little over $2100. The first low mileage annual an RMS leak, the warranty picked it up. 2nd annual the air conditioner was not working right. Cost on repair for annual and air conditioner; $4000. So far my extended warranty has picked up over $4200 in repair. A good news story for me.

Found out that the 996 uses dissimilar metals in the evaporator and they start to leak another know problem in the 996. This is my second P-Car and I haven't found a reliable one yet. This one has an 1" thick maintenance record with only 36000 miles; maybe the 997's are better

I purchased my extended warranty through Hoegn (spelling?) Porsche, here in CA. It's through JM&A. My mechanic loves this company. Let's hope it doesn't get used too much.......

I agree 1000% on getting the warranty. I claimed about $5000 so far with two visits, I will never own a newer Porsche without a warranty.

What warranty companies are you guys using? Can you buy a warranty from Porsche on a used car (say a 2001 or 2002)?

Have had an extended warranty on all three of mine. Other then minor little things, never used it. I have to agree though with the buying, as i said ive had them on all three.... but they have been just great cars, without a real problem yet.

i bought the extended warranty also. in the first 2 years of ownership, i had 3 RMS leaks and other problems. i paid 2500 for it and it pretty much paid for itself in the first year alone.

I purchased my warranty from a different dealer than I purchased the car from. All they required was a PPI.

I had JM&A with my previous 996 cab. I had the top fail on me which was traced back to a couple of failed modules. They needed to come out and inspect the car before they approved the work. They covered some things and not others; pretty typical stuff I think. Overall, I can't complain as the repair out of pocket would've cost much more if I didn't have a warranty.

I also have the JM&A warranty with my current 996 which I haven't had to use yet. Knock on wood.

I think the best warranty is to never end up using it. Weird, huh?

I haven't used mine yet.
