c2 to c4s conversion, is it possible?

Hi All

Does anyone know if its possible to convert a c2 to a C4s body style and what are the main differences between the 2 cars? Is the C4s just wider at the rear or the front too? If so would it be a case of just getting some C4s rear fenders and getting the fitted?

I have looked for some conversion/bodykits but can't seem to find anywhere that offers such a conversion.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Trev

The conversion is pretty easy. First you need to get a C2 and after you get the title in hand, go to your dealer and trade it for a C4S. more or less $10,000 more and some paperwork and you're done!
Kiddin' aside, C2 fronts are the same width than C4S
C4S are 4WD
C4S are 1.5" wider in the back.

I would think is more fun to convert a C2 996 into a C2S 997 but then, what about the interior?

Too bad there's not a C2S 996 (wide body)... RWD and fat hips!

I think he was looking to make a 996C2S widebody. Not looking to go AWD.

There was one post about 1month ago of a Japan car? that did a rear quarter conversion. He basically cut off the rear quarters and welded in the widebody ones. He also had to use new rear bumper, deck and lights. Was a very good write up. Try a search, it ended up getting a super nice white paint job if I remember correctly. Overall it was very costly.....but looks great!

Yeah the main differences are the tail lights and a wider bumper, there are a couple ways to make it work, I just wish all 996's came with a fat a$s rear end, the NB look is unnecessary.

thanks for the info. I have looked at several options all of which come down to cost, these are:

1) buy a C4S - cost is around $25-35k on top of a c2 over here in the UK which is too much for me.

2) convert a 996 C2 to 997 - Got a quote for this and looking at around $24k on top of a C2 so again cost is a little high

3) convert a C2 to C4s widebody - I saw the porsche below and absolutley love it. Personally I find it looks better than the 997 as it looks a bit more aggresive.

So what I would like to do is take a C2, widen the rear arches and fit the above bodykit.

The ideal situation would be to try and buy a slightly damaged C4S and simply add the bodykit but not too many C4S' around

Here's the good news for you. The front bumper might be a TA style bumper, so that is something that you can use already w/ a NB, and as for the wing, it's a Misha GT2M wing which you can also install right now w/ a NB 996. So, the only thing you need to do is figure out how to install the w/body kit and you're set.

It looks like this guy is selling his TA front bumper https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=133240

and I am selling my GT2 wing off my C4S like the one pictured above, so if you're interested, just PM me......

The C4S is almost the same price as a Turbo, which has the wide body, AWD, oh and 420hp. My personal opinion says go with a 996TT. The 996 Carrera is a good value but you don't get all the nice touches unless you spend on the next level of pricing. Guess it comes down to what you want to spend, but it seems like so many of us with Carrera's dump 10-15k into our cars to make them look like a Turbo.

Right a turbo in the UK is around $70k but a carrera 2s costs around $34k so over twice the price. I don't think I could justify spending that sort of money to get the turbo. Personally I like the rwd layout of the C2 and the looks of the C4s widebody but not the reflector strip on the rear so a C2 widebody would probably be the ideal car for me.

As for parts needed, I would need:
- facelift headlights
- TA front bumper
- TA sideskirts
- C4s rear bumper
- C4s rear fenders
- Misha GT2M wing

I am no expert but I wouldn't imagine a conversion like this wouldn't cost $36k which is the price difference between the C2 and the turbo. Plus if I was to buy a turbo I'd still want the TA front bumper and Mischa rear wing which adds even more $'s to the total cost.

Does anyone know how much the TA style front bumper costs and where you can get them?

Well if looking at a preface lift C2 then add the front fenders, headlight carriers and wire harness for lights. Better to convert a 02' facelifted one.

hmm in which case the cost is going to push the cost of the project nearer to C4S territory. I'd need to see how much I could get a facelift for as they'd also have the 3.6 which would be nice but I am guessing they won't be far off a C4S

In the 80's there was a trend of converting a 911SC to 930's body. I did own one with fiberglass wide body kit. The workmanship is very good. I drove around in L.A and people thought it was a 930.

Hi

its hell of work to do the widebody on a C2. Here in Germany we had some guys who bought crashed c2 and perfomed them into C4S look.
You need to replace the whole back of the car. And dont forget you also need a wider axle cause of the widebody. Otherwise maybe spacers also work with that.
Nevertheless rather buy a C2 and put a bodykit on it and stay with the narrowbody.
