Fresh Red Calipers
I wasn't saying I didn't know how to paint calipers, I did so myslef following Gotta911's (Tim) DIY technique with the Duplicolor kit. It was about 9 months ago and you'd have to look up close to see imperfections. The imperfections were operator error. I was just saying I don't know the tecnique you used. It's cool if you want to keep it to yourself, but using Duplicor isn't a difficult mod and it's really inexpensive.
here is a pic of mine.......decals from xenonmods.com
one more.
BTW, i used this http://www.levineautoparts.com/caliper.html
also, prep is very important. try to get the caliper as clean as possible before painting.

thanks for the link
Thanks for the xenonmods.com link. I ordered them today. How do they hold up? Did you place the logo's on the calip's before or after the heat temp clear coat?
i got mine from xenonmods.com. they ship in a regular envelope so becareful not to throw away, it may look like junk mail.
BTW, i sprayed the color, let dry overnight, put the decals on and lightly sprayed with high temp clear coat.

Mr. Steve,
I get the stickers from A@G sign in Pasadena, CA. I think they are a little on the pricey side. I'm sure you can find them for less somewhere else. When you think about it they are simple vinyl stickers. Get a couple extra just in case you don't line them up perfectly. I always encourage people to try it and save themselves the extra $$$
Thanks

Board Sponsor, Aaron at Suncoast carries the decals in 3" (C2+C4) or 4" (Cayenne,C4S+Turbo) white or black PORSCHE lettering. They have Red. Yellow thermal paint is hard to find these days - maybe try Damon at Tirerack.
My Indy just painted mine for me using the kit and it is a bit of a hack job; brush strokes, PORSCHE decals are upside down and broken, it's actually comically bad. That's $50 for you. Most people wouldn't notice, but some of you would laugh and point if you saw these.
Still, at the end of the day your capital outlay is $50, so you can either try again, or send your car out for professional powder coating. I'm not inclined to get that fancy since they are usually covered in black brake dust anyway

1. Begin by very thoroughly cleaning the caliper.
2. Remove caliper or tape off all surounding areas in order to avoid over spray.
3. If you use dupont for example, mix according to directions, fill your gun and spray approximately three coats. (you won't need very much, try and buy the smallest amount the paint store will sell you.)
4. To be 100% sure let it dry overnight and place decals. (Don't rush it and put finger prints on them while installin stickers.)
5. It's finally time to spray the clear. I would recommend 2-3 coats of clear depending how heavy you lay them.
I hope this helps, take your time, be patient and it will come out perfect.
