Fresh Red Calipers

I always enjoy painting calipers. It really freshens up the look of the car. If they are dingy red or the dramatic change of going from black to red or even yellow, the customer is always surprised at the diffrence it makes. It's a little time consuming because it needs to cure overnight but the ingredients we use are extremely durable and worth the wait. I have taken freshly done calipers and turned some hot laps, got the Rotors pratically glowing from heat and the Calipers piping hot and the calipers still look as good as the day they were done.

I'm not sure how LA TECH did it but there are caliper paint kits available at auto parts stores. Do a search for painted calipers on Rennlist.

Man I can't slide anything by you guys. Good eye. However, I did these almost a year ago. These wheels have been taken on and off countless times. While in a hurry, at the track I slammed the wheel against the caliper and chipped it. I thought I could sneak it by you. Remind me not to try that again.

There are several high temp paints out there you can use. However, I have yet to see a job that looks better and is more durable then factory. Not to mention you want to have the PORSCHE stenciling to make it proper.

I have done other stenciling such as Tech Art, AMG, and Lorinser. I would share my secret ingredients with you but then it wouldn't be a secret.

Power coating is the best but good old quality metal paint - painted on with a brush also works well and lasts several years.

Using 2 stage is the way to go. This will allow you to paint, stencil and finally add the clear.

I did too. Cheap too. Not bad for a $36 dollar paint kit. DIY by just cutting a hole thru a trash bag, and then pulling it over the caliper. This masks off the parts that you don't want paint getting on. Then just use either a G2 or Duplicolor brush on caliper paint kit or the spray on kind. Slap on Porsche decals and then clear coat over them with 2 thin layers of high temp clear, and you're done...

From this:

To this:

With wheel back on:

I wasn't saying I didn't know how to paint calipers, I did so myslef following Gotta911's (Tim) DIY technique with the Duplicolor kit. It was about 9 months ago and you'd have to look up close to see imperfections. The imperfections were operator error. I was just saying I don't know the tecnique you used. It's cool if you want to keep it to yourself, but using Duplicor isn't a difficult mod and it's really inexpensive.
