I like the way you think! Getting married in 17 days and counting! Yikes I hope I don't have a meltdown! I was fine months ago, but now it's so close! Words of advice? Anyone?

Repaired

Picked up my ride today and my extended warranty did not cover my headlight washers. Living in So.Cal rain is far and near, so my washer fluid system was clogged up. They cleaned out the entire system (which I could have probably done) and now it works 100%. The warranty would have covered it if it was a mechanical problem. Good note it only cost me $150.00. Can't complain!

Is there a waiting period (30-60) days before an extended warranty kicks in.

Yea, don't have kids if you think that would "help" the relationship.

And remember that in eyes of the court, a marriage is just a business with employees, revenue, expenses, and assets. It was incorporated on the day you got married. The fruits of the business are pretty much split 50/50, so make sure both people earn their share during the life of the business so there's no hard feelings when it's over.

Does Porsche offer extended warranties, and if so, are they affordable?

I just paid $2500 for an Easycare extended warranty from the Porsche dealership. It's their Totalcare Gold package that adds 3 years and 36K miles to my 2003 C2 Coupe that had just under 25K miles (after 25K miles would have added another $600).

It has a high $250 deductible, but I didn't get it to cover the small stuff. It's there to catch any implosions of the engine or tiptronic.

I don't have one but suggest if looking for one to try and get an exclusionary warranty rather inclusionary. You'll have a better idea of what is covered and what isn't.

I'm considering buying a 2003-2004 911, and won't consider doing it without an extended warranty given all I ahve read about engine failures, transmission repair costs, etc.

My concern is what companies offer extended warranties that cover all the mechanical stuff, and which ones are trustworthy.

Given the current economy, I'm also concerend about their long term surviveability. If they go under, my warranty just became worthless.

Regarding the warranties how does it work, when you are about to get one, do they check your car for pre-existing conditions? I had a minor oil leak and was told it was RMS leak and another tech told me now it is not. So technically if I got one now will I be covered?

Of a lesser importance to me:
Regarding marriage, in general, my opinion is that the laws are such that they encourage women to divorce men with high incomes (as many here are as Porsche owners I am assuming). A woman can get several thousand dollars a month income from a divorce enough to pay rent meals and food. And if she's hot next thing you know they are out clubbing. I am at clubs a lot, especially in NY I see a lot of ladies in their 30's hitting it off with younger men. I am actually not opposed to marriage, just a big question why. My friend says you get a girl knocked up you sign a blank check for the next 21 years hehe. Also beware if the judge sees 200K+ income he/she is on her side no matter what. I hear people these days hire an attorney for the bride's side to make sure they they understood your prenap and in two languages if she's bilingual. Oh well. The equal right are on paper.

Show me a hot chick and I'll show you a guy who's tired of putting up with her ****! I think one of my friends has the right answer to this marriage issue. He specifically goes after recently divorced women or married and frustrated - the hot ones. They don't want to give up the check coming in every month and he doesn't have to deal with crappy issues. I am a big pro on marriage but he is having the time of his life. Women buy him gifts! Lucky guy.

Yes, there is usually first an inspection to determine any pre existing conditions which, if found, you either have to fix or they are excluded from the warranty... then there is a 30 day and 1000 mile waiting period before the warranty kicks in.

I am considering a 996 to buy and can get a 48mo/48k mile Total Shield Platnum plan through a Porsche Dealer for $2500. The contract seems to be exclusionary. You can get this on cars with up to 50,000 miles.

Got mine at Porsche Fremont (in NorCal).
Exclusionary, 2002 C4S with 32K miles.
Paid $3300 for 3y/36K miles
Already got RMS taken care of...

PS:
Bought the car from a private party. The dealer never saw the car before and never asked to see it either for an inspection. I asked and and was told it wasn't necessary...

I dealt with the Finance guy.
