I prefer raw polished wheels, with a bit of mother's polish, looks emmaculate every time!!!! I also like the raw polish for that performance/race look over the bling.

Just my 2 cents.
brake dust eats thru everything. the onus is on its owner to keep their wheels clean. clear coat is absolutely more durable than raw polished lips given the owner knows how to maintain their ****.

i don't like the mirror like finish of a polished lip. the best finish i've seen so far is the BBS lip finish they use on their LMs/LM-Rs. it's a fine machined look that cannot be replicated outside of their factory. brilliant and durable.

I would also have to agree as I had a set of HRE's and the raw lip was just a pain in the *** to keep polished. not to keep clean but to keep the polish shine more. the rawness just seemed to pick up more crap then if the wheel was clear coated.

as for the clear coat, yes it may or start to chip but by then the wheel prob has been curbed or its been a few years. by then i would just get them refinished and have been customized as i always like to change things up.

wheel maintenance is a pain, no matter what finish.
It always seems the finishes I like are always harder to maintain.

We sell the HRE's with the polished lip as well as the 360 Forged with the matte brushed lip. They look awesome, but needs the elbow grease like and a cotton bud, like every other week...

This is a place to voice constructive options and experiences ( good or bad). So others could gain from different views. It doesn't make one option more valued then another. Ben thinks my advise about break dust on deep dish wheels was less valued and suggested that people with the same problem was less the human by posting "where do you creatures come from, seriously?". That was not constructive and uncalled for.
I just thought if he could dish it out maybe he could take it. My posts to him after that was design to push his buttons. That was also not constructive and uncalled for on my part.

I will be the first one to apolagize to Ben and to the members of 6speed.

Lets chuck it up as misunderstanding and end this rubbish. What do you say Ben?

why's there even a need for an apology? we're arguing about cars and wheels here not world peace and solving world hunger as if we had any real impact on it with the outcomes from chatting on this damn internet forum.

what you typed out is absolutely inane. deep dish wheels are somehow undesireable because somehow brake dust is somehow more attracted to deep dish wheels? LOLLOLOLOL c'mon dude, you sounded like a moron giving out moronic advice and i'm calling u out on it.

Yeah, you're right JayFunk......so is Ben, raw is definitely higher in maintenance....All I'm saying is that it eliminates the chipping and peeling in the long run, that is, if you keep it maintained. In the long run, I prefer to not have to re-finish, just re-buff. But hey, it would probably be time for a change anyways

Naw...clear coat is NOT more durable, raw finish is raw. Sorry bud, have to disagree on that one.....But hey, +1 on BBS Lms/LM-R's. Have to agree with you on that one? Are they machined and kept raw or clearcoated?

I wholeheartedly disagree my man. I've owned and driven in this lovely PacNW weather where we get all four seasons... OZ 3s, BBS RGRs, BBS LMs, Fikse FM10s, Radengerie R10s, Work Broms... and by far the clear coated wheels (you see the trend in my purchases) are far more durable and lasting than the non clear coated ones (Fikse FM10s).

I speak from experience, but of course, this sort of **** is rarely tested and demanded on the internet and when it is, people typically BS with tons of dangerous to sound like they know when in fact they do not. '

Painted is more durable than clear coat is more durable than raw for everyday driving. Don't compare POS clear coats like on the iForged/HRE wheels to good clear coats like those on the OZ/BBS/Work wheels.

BBS is machined, but it is clear coated. You can't machine the clear coat you feel me? You apply a protective layer of it over the raw aluminum much like paint. next time you see a BBS LM wheel in person, look closely and see how you'll see fine lines or what they call their diamond finish. super radiant. it's bright without being too mirrorlike a la polished.

That's good to know about BBS wheels....THX!!!! But I guess we can't use your personal experience with long term testing with clear coated wheels. Seems you go through them like a pair of undies. I see the trend.

But I would have to say having been on the World Challenge Race Team in '98, my experience can hold ground, but I guess my back ground of an engineer might not hold up to the CHOI it's my way or no way and/or I'm right 'cause I've proven it by cruisin' the streets....

I would have to say NEGATIVE and I'm out...I know I'll be hearing from you soon....Don't be hurt if I choose not to waste my time with this debate. Peace out bro!!!!

Apply Rejex to your wheels...it does a great job of "rejecting" contaminants and makes it a whole lot easier to clean your wheels. Yes, mesh wheels take a little longer to clean than say 5 spoke...but what's a few more minutes considering the overall time it takes to wash/dry the car anyway? I would not let the difference it time it takes to clean a wheel determine my wheel choice. Of the two wheel choices I'd go with the mesh.

I like the second set but I think these wheels look better on Benz'. I seen these wheels on a SL series and they look good.
