Opinions about a replaced engine

I'm looking to buy a 996 with an engine that was replaced by Porsche at 15k miles due to RMS failures.

Do you think this positively or negatively affects the value of the car?

Would a future buyer see this as a defect in the car or a wear & tear item that was replaced?

It should be a positive. I would get a 996 with a replaced engine over one with the original engine. The replaced engine is suppose to have the 'upgraded' parts and is less likely to fail. Infact, I have not heard of a replacement engine fail yet.

yep, a 996 with a new engine should have a much higher resale value

It's a positive, but I wouldn't necessarily pay more for it...

Agree - no added value, but not a bad thing.
