Getting a clunk kind of sound from the front. what could it be?

The only after market item in the front of the car was the PSS9 that was installed by Lucent. Could the PSS9 be the problem (being loose) or is it something else ?

I want to see if there is any known clunk kind of sound from the front of 996's.

The noise can be heard at low speeds (1-2mph), backing up or just driving forward. Turning the steering while driving at 1-2mph also can duplicate the clunk sound.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Sounds like a suspension problem. I'm not aware of any "known" clunk issues. If you just had the PSS9 installed, that is the likely culprit.

Ditto on the drop links/sways - very common issue. Was the install done recently?

What/where exactly are drop links? Do you mean the links to the sway bars?

I guess it calls for a visit to the dealer. The PSS9 was done by Lucent, and i didn't feel the clunk until a year later.

I hope dealer won't consider the PSS9 a warranty issue.

What do you guys think?

Check the links first, they are known to come loose occasionally. If they're tight, then try a local shop unless you're still under warranty - which you may have voided with pss9's.

Just to be clear, the only reason I asked if they had been done recently is that Arling would probably have tighten the links and checked everything for little to no charge. The links could easily have come loose a year later - vibrations, impact with a pothole, etc...

If your problem is in any way tied to or is a result of the pss9's, then you won't have any warranty coverage.

That will sound stupid but a friend had some clunking noise in the front and it turned out to be the tire pressure was in the mid 20' ... Just a thought...

is it easy to get to the droplinks once the car is jacked up?

Is it a matter of just tightening the bolts?
Also, gonna check the tire pressure, haven't done it for a while.

I've got the same issue, just had GT3 sway bars and AP droplinks fitted and driving home just now noticed a clunk at low speed, if it is the drop links do I just tighten till ther's no nut movement or do they need torqued?

Thanks, took the wheels off this morning and it was these nuts in the picture that were loose, is that what everyone else found? Nothing else seemed wrong so tightend those down not altering the drop link length...

Clunking is still there!!!? Is this a generic fault with adjustable drop links? Been told by installer they had the same problem and already tightened once before. They're suggesting moving to the non adjustable OEM drop link which they fit to all they're race/ road GT3s.
This is pi55ing me off not to mention my wallet!
