I currently have a MY99 C2 Tip with 56k miles. It is in exceptionally good shape w/o any of the persistent problems that plagued early 996's.
I'm getting itchy and have located an '03 which is virtually identical to mine with half the miles and twice the price. $48k w/ 24k trade-in which I think is fairly much in the ballpark in the bay area.
Nothing wrong with mine, question is do you guys think an 03 is worth twice as much as a 99?

It is loaded but nothing I can't live without. Full leather, pwr seats, xenon, navigation etc. up to and incl headlight washers.
Primarily interested if engineering and evolutionary improvements is worth the bucks.

BTW, not even for the C4, the performance gains are just not there...unless you gotta get your hands on that fat ****...
997 only. i wouldn't even consider a 996. it's not a big enough upgrade.
make sure you drive the TT before getting after it. it's powerful but has its own set of shortcomings.

I wouldn't do it- you can find '05 997's with about 20-30k miles on them for $49-51k. That would be a worthwhile upgrade. Either that or +1 on a 996 C4S. As a matter of fact, look in the Cars for Sale section here- California seller asking $51k for his 05 997, 21k miles, giac + evo intake.

Saw it, love it.
Needs tint + Aero. I'd look hard at this one if I was in the market, damn...
+1 on c4s. Not sure about turbo cause for high 40's it would probably have some miles on it.. But you can find some nice c4s' in that price range. I would take a 996 c4s over a 997 carrera in terms of looks. As far as power, none of them are that fast stock.
Wow who is giving you 24K for trade in on your 996?? They are going for around 18k at auction and that is what most places will give you for it. I am in the bay area also and if I could find a dealer to give me that for my car I would jump on it, but not for another 996. If you are going to spend that kind of money definately upgrade.
