Post over at the detailing page. There are some pro's there who can help you. I think you can buff them out.

Same issue here.

I think the haze is actually tons of very small scratches.

I use Meguiars plastx for all plastic/plexiglass including the interior. It works great for haze and swirl marks.
Even when it looks to start with it takes it to the next level.
As far as rock chips go, that is another story as it has been mentioned.

I would try Plastx first and then go from there (easy to find, autozone etc)

uh huh...now my blue covers aren't so "ricey" afterall! yeah! my headlights dont look like that!

all kidding aside, yeah you can polish it out so it will look better. Another brand is lexus plastic polish. Any sort of plastic polish should help it then how it looks now. Or you can search on ebay for housings that you can pop in and exchange. Good luck.

While doing this make sure you do not use an sort of dry cloth that can carry static. So just keep it somewhat moist. For some reason on the 996 you can short out the dash though the headlights.

Have you ever gotten actual droplets inside the headlights? I have a 99 and I always see some droplets inside the corner piece of one of my headlights, though I'm not too concerned about it since there is nothing in there.

This is exactly how you do it. I did it on mine and it looks brand new. Bravo asialors996.
