Testing waters... iPod integration..

I was recently searching for a way to connect my iPod directly to the stereo in my '02 911 and I remembered a contact I've got in China who sells electronic components.
I called him up and I can put in an order to have several units made but I wanted to make sure there's a need for them here before I finalize my designs.

Basically it'd be a combination of an Aux-input (for at least 96-02), a noise filter (to eliminate alternator whine) and a power connection on one end (all hidden behind the dash) with a normal looking iPod connection on the other end.

So what you'd get is a device that both charges your ipod and plays music directly through the auxiliary input of your head unit.

The installation would be simple and I would be able to include everything that you'd need to install it, including radio keys and detailed instructions.
Installation would not require any cutting/modification of your vehicle or it's wiring harnesses.

Right now the price is looking to be around $60

Would many of you guys be interested?

If I can get some interest I'll go ahead and have the first batch ordered and shipped over so I can supply you guys with pictures.

I would be interested as well. How do you access the auxillary input on the radio? Does it prohibit you from using the CD player at all?

I'm working with Becker on that.
There are two separate auxiliary inputs on the head units, I'll let you know.

Are you designing for pre-MOST cars only?

Great to see some Entrepreneurial spirit - g/l

you know what would be hot- an interface that lets you hook up any head unit to the factory amp on MOST cars. RCA-in on head unit side and fiber/MOST connection on amp side. I'll take 10% of gross sales please

At this point, yes.
I'll shift my efforts once the pre-MOST is under control.

Hmm, hadn't seen that.

Nice first post...

I'm pretty sure that you can not tap in to the auxiliary input plug on the becker head units for power, I may be wrong...
With a setup like that you'll have a constant alternator whine that somewhat defeats the purpose (cleaner sound) of an auxiliary input.

Also, unlike that one, my unit would include a high-pass filter, radio removal keys and all supplies needed for installation,
