after 12,000 miles, I am in need of new brake pads.
Anybody have experience w/ aftermarket brake pads? Which is the best aftermarket brake pads and where can I find the best prices.

I sell Hawk and Pagid. They have many compounds. What are you doing with your car? Street only, drivers education track days, autocross, or full-on road racing on tracks?

 

Dahas:

Street only. Like something that performs better then factory pads. But do not want any brake noise. I've read that pagid pads have excesive noise, is that true?

What would you recommand.

Peter, Hawk and Pagid have "sport" pads designed high performance street use with higher friction (braking torque) than the stock pads. They are made to give low dust and very little, if no squeal. The Pagids come with an anti-squeal shim. The Pagid Sport pads are $189.09 front set and $152.5 rear set. The Hawk HPS pads are $114.73 front or rear. They are both in stock.

 

What is the Pagid your referring to. What color? black, orange, blue,

The Pagid Sport pads are dark blue, and are not the same as the royal blue from the RS 4-2 medium friction racing pads.

I used the Pagid Blues on my car and they were much better than stock on the track. They made only a little bit of noise on the street when they're cold. The little bit of noise never bothered me. It really wasn't much. I would recommend them to you.

I have only had my car 4 months, but isn't 12000 miles kind of low for replacing the pads? I understand that it is dependant on the driving conditions but......

 

So, how do the Hawk and Pagid "Sport" pads perform on the street compared to the stock Porsche pads? I want something with less dust but, I don't want to give up cold performance. I don't really care about brake noise.

Also, other than the price and shims, what's the difference between the Hawk and Pagid Pads?

b-man, thanks for the question. The Pagid "Sport" pads are designed with a higher friction value (more braking torque) than the stock pads which, by the way, are most likely made by Pagid for Brembo who supplies Porsche. The Pagid pads don't claim to be low dust like the Hawk HPS pads.

 

The Hawk HPS pads are extremely good when cold and are ok for drivers ed. track days, but not club racing. The HPS pads are good up to 700 deg. F. If you're running higher rotor temps, the HP+ pad are good up to 850 deg. F. Let me know if I can help.

yeah, seems VERY low to me, unless you're tracking the car too! my stock pads lasted through 28K miles, and i drove my C4 HARD!!!

 

Hi there, my stock pads are almost done. I use Pagid Orange on the Track for my DE's. I do about 6-8 a year. Also use Pilot Sport Cups at the track. Will the Pagid Sports hold up under the harder braking required at the track? I would like to not have to change my pads out at the track but don't want to risk safety. Thank you
