if i were you, i'd go for the 996. men grow up loving the carrera's and it seems like 911's in general are what guys grow up wanting as their "dream car". =)

my hubby bought our boxster for himself because he was given a good deal on it. that lasted about 2 weeks and then he decided he wanted the 996 even more. SCORE for me!!! that's the day "boxstergirlie01" was born! =D

I would suggest 996 IMHO.
I did the same (last week) after looking for a car for 3 months. My final short list was '99 996 vs '03 350 z. Got 996 and not feeling sorry. Except that now worried about the "expensive maintenance". Had to replace O2 sensors (2 of them) plus oil change and been billed 1000$. Hope that is the last of it as my next thing to do is buying winter tires.
