Good luck......it may be 09 before you find a nice one for $40K, but you can never tell.

I haven't seen any good ones for under $43K yet.

Sorry....but I'm hoping they go up!

Well 43K vs 40K is nothing for the right one I'm in no hurry. Hell if I can't find the right one I might just say screw it and get a 335i coupe and start saving for a 997tt.

why not just save for a pagani zonda?

it's a widebody baby.

yea, i have no qualms about keeping it for as long as i truly get bored with it. outside of ferrari, no 911 is compelling to me at this point in time. it may be faster, but none of them feel that special... at least not $50K+ special.

I agree with you 100%. Anything I like a lot better, is a whole lot more money. The 4S coupe is a really neat piece. I think 90% were made as cabs.

And it is at a price point that I am satisfied with having sunk in a weekend play car.

I could buy a Ferrari, but the maintenance cost is outrageous and just not for my frugal self.

i'm certainly not at a point financially to throw down cash on multiple pleasure toys, but my style is, even if i were to buy $500K worth of cars... i wouldn't. i'd buy one special fun car and drive one daily truck/suv... which i'm doing now, just that it's under $100K combined and i'm totally happy. else, i'd feel guilty about my spending. there's just so many other things to do like traveling where cars would be a distant thought in my mind...

it's a blessing and a curse that 911s have retained its classic shape esp since i have little to no interest in the air cooled line-up. i'm a watercooled fan. i've driven the 997TT... fast, great quality, but uninspiring. 99% of the public looks at it and it's just about the same shape.

the 911 is a best value for the money for build quality, brand prestige, and driving fun. period. brando, you have a very nice looking example.

let's go big or stick with what we got which is a gem unto itself.

Bluegrass Porsche in Louisville, KY has a CPO 2003 Speed Yellow C4S w/ 45k miles for sale for $44k. I actually almost bought it, but ended up going local at the last minute. The only catch is that the Carfax shows an accident 2 weeks/202 miles after it was purchased. Porsche CPO allows cars to be CPO'd if paintwork was done on 2 or fewer panels and there is no evidence of frame damage.

You can see it on www.bluegrassauto.com. I worked w/ Mark Kennedy and have nothing but great things to say about him. He was very patient and professional w/ all my questions and indecisiveness.

Good luck with your search.

Anyway, I'm probably too late, but try Carmax. They have a couple of nice 4Ss for around $45k.

I spent about a month on all the sources others have listed but found that Ebay was the best source of information. Not just looking at the ads, but calling and talking to the dealers that were selling their cars to find out what would be the best deal they could make. In fact, I just about bought a car from a dealer in Detroit but, at the last minute, found one here in town and save $2K plus the expense of shipping.

Depending on the year you settle for, in my opinion a CPO is really important. I know that I paid for it, as I believe it added a couple of grand to the price, but for me it was worth the peace of mind.

Good luck, you'll love the car.
