Exhaust Question - Ztek or Fabspeed?
I was wondering if any of you had any feedback - I am looking to get a new exhaust, headers, and sport cats - I am currently looking into either Zero Tek or Fabspeed - Ztek prices are a LOT more affordable and I am leaning this way, however I do not want to regret that decision down the road - anyone have any comments about either of these? I have heard that Fabspeed is great, but having problems finding anything on Zero Tek online - thank you for any feedback you may have!
Go with the good name, most expensive you can get, save our $$ for it if need be.
You may try to look into a good used set as well, better than going new and cheap...like the Z
Do a search on mufflers...lots to read

My personal experience opinion on the best-bang-for-buck buys are Agency Power and AfterHours. Both sound really good and are under a grand, and per my experiences with them they both improved HP / sound on my 996.
AP's are about 2x as loud as stock and burn in after about 500 miles or so, no real resonance to speak of, adds slight off-idle vibration to cabin (every car may be different in this respect). Slight weight savings. You'll get louder sound and a maybe bit more power when combined with 200 cell sport cats. Production made, good product support, good quality.
AH's are about 2x as loud at idle / cruise, 80% of bypass pipes at WOT, and burn in after about 500 miles. Some resonance in cabin at around 3200k rpm, no vibration at all due to incorporated flex section (smooth as stock). Big weight savings. No need to use sport cats due to the AH passthrough design. Hand made, good product support, good quality. Link to video of them on my 996 in my sig.
IIRC many of the popular mufflers are made in China (the muffler body itself), but that does not neccessarily mean they are poorly made. Heck most of the stuff we buy in general is made in China!
I've never heard Ztek so cannot comment, I've always gone on the general consensus of past experiences / opinions of others with a particular product, and if you can make it out to any of the local pcar club meets it might be a good way to hear 1st-hand some of the different exhausts.

I've got a complete Fabspeed system: headers, 200 CEL cats, mufflers and tips. They sound great--not too loud unless you really nail it. Since I did the install myself, I also was able to assess the quality and fit, which is excellent. I think the pricing is somewhere in the middle--not as expensive as Tubi.
The guys at Fabspeed are really helpful. Give them a call if you've got questions. One thing I found intersting is that it is difficult to tell the difference between a set of $100 headers on Ebay and the the products that are actually designed and tested. Consider the heat cycling, bends and internal shapes--it's complicated to make good ones.
