Clutch Price Question

I was planning on installing a new clutch, flywheel and RMS (if needed) by myself. I have been reading about it and figured I can take it on over the winter while I have it garaged. However, I just talked to a Porsche mechanic who offered to do the work for me at the dealership for 6 hours flat fee of $600. I supply the parts or he says his parts department will match Sunset or Suncoasts price (which ever is cheaper).

Does this sound like a good deal?

do a search for the guy that just did this himself a few weeks ago and then come back and tell me if it's not worth $600

I agree, I just wanted to run it by this board. For some reason I thought I might get a kick out of doing it myself but since I posted, I think I am over that nonsense. Thanks

unless you have the tools, equipment and intimate knowledge of the process you'd spend four days of your life spewing explitives and drinking like a Irish Catholic in Boston whos first son just got married.

clutch R&R

I just paid $1300, for a clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch lever bearing, IMS, RMS, Tranny main shaft seal and all required replacement bolts. The tech rebuilt the two CV joints and R&R'd the boots for an additional $300. If I had a garage, the proper equipment and a winter to do it, I would. It is not difficult to do, it requires a lot of knowledge if you want to start on Sat morn and go to beach Sun afternoon. Anyway, $600 for labor is a good deal.

I have a squeak from the footwell area when I push the clutch pedal. I assume it has something to do with the clutch area. Any one know what that is? - ie is it the clutch lever bearing??
