Should I do the 60k before I sell my 2003 996 C2?

Should I do the 60k before I sell my 2003 996 C2?

So I have had the car for just over 2 years and it is a lot of fun. It is time to move on and so I will be selling it. It has 58k on it now. I just replaced the tires (within 2k) and front brakes (rotors as well).

The question is should I spend the money and get the 60k done through an Indy or skip it. I have all the other records, no dents, no wrecks, etc.

Also, anyone know what I should (seriously) ask for it?
2003 996 C2
black/black
crest seats
bose stereo
tint
clear markers
litronic (I believe)
HR spring installed by dealer
new brakes (front)
new tires
clean carfax and title
2nd owner
curb rash on rims
58k of rockchips (not terrible but by no means brand new. i'd probably respray if I kept it cause I am a bit retentive)
*right now it has sparco milano's in alcantara, rss plenum, and k&n dry cold air. all of which is coming out.

I'd be most impressed of theories for Seattle area.

no I wouldnt do the 60k service. In my opinion, car would prolly go around $40k tops! Good luck with sales. I'd take your plenum and air intake if you want to sell. John

Having the 60k service done simply makes your buyer more willing to buy, as opposed to thinking "oh its almost there, I gotta shell out a few hundreds more if not thousands, just for the service..." IMHO, don't let them guess...just get it done. I have seen people paying top dollars for service, some pay a reasonable price. In fact, if you can do the service yourself...I would recommend you doing it. I had mine done for under $200 and a few hours on a Saturday afternoon ($45 for belt, $40 for spark plugs, $55 for oil, $14 oil filter, $35 for a bad O2 sensor...everything ordered online, and the rest were just visual inspection for leaks and fluid level. I could have missed some, but I think I got the most critical ones done.

NO way. The majority of the buyers are looking for the bottom line purchase price. They may only plan to put a thousand miles per year on the car as a garage queen and will wait a year before the maintenance. Why add it to your selling costs.

90% of Porsche buyers dont know that a 60k service is any different than the 20 dollar oild change on their civic- until they buy the porsche. We are computer addicted freaks who talk to other people about our cars and are a little more knowledgable, but look at the Porsche's you pass everyday- half are driven by middle aged women that think they look cute and dont know the service schedule.

On the other end of the spectrum, the "in the know" buyer would rather do some of the 60k service themselves and save the money not tacked on the price

Ok, let me clarify. I really meant...yes do it if you can do it yourself. Keep you cost down and yet the end result is you add one more selling point to your car, and it will just attract more of the other half of your potential buyers who have no idea about the 60k service. Even if I the "in the know" buyer, see a listing with service done vs without, I'd pick the one with less hassle so I can spend my time driving it rather than servicing it (yeah even I did service mine, I hate getting underneath the car)

what all do they do on the 60k tune-up, i'd heard that it's a oil change & checking a few things, but not really worth what they charge you for

You can do it as an added selling point or not do it and use it as a negotiating point.

An enthusiast buyer will look at your mileage and ask if you have documentation of the 60k service. If you don't he or she will immediately knock a few to several hundred dollars off whatever they were going to offer you.

A non-enthusiast buyer may or may not do the same thing.

I don't think it'd affect a serious buyer either way. If I loved your car, it wouldn't break the deal, just a bonus...you should put on market as is and see how many fish bite. Front bumper respray and 60k service can be negotiation points from there...but if you're selling anyway, no need to incur added expenses if not absolutely necessary.

where did you get an oil filter for $14?
