Instrument Panel Light Goes ON and OFF

Newbie here. I recently bought a 02 996 Cab a month ago. Love the car! When I turned my light on tonight, everything turned on expect the instrument gauges. After bout 2 mins, it came on. Then it went out and turned on again a little while later. When I pulled the car in the garage and shut off the lights and tried to turn on the lights again, same thing happens. Instrument panel lights stay off and turns on in a few mins. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Is my fuse going bad? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

doesn't sound like a fuse. maybe the plug is loose?
was it only the lights that didn't turn on? did the gauges work?

The headlights was fine, it was just the light that lights up your instrument panel gauges that went out and back on.

- Does it happen while the car is not running? (So that there are no vibrations.)
- As asked already, do the gauges work and not just the lights?
- Is it just the instrument panel? What about AC controls?

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

i had a similar problem. Turns out that the problem was the relay that is in the actual switch itself. (the round **** that you twist to turn on the headliights) had to be replaced & now its fine.
