Need help on my hand brake

Since I bought and installed this (Thanks JoshO! He sold it to me for a steal of a price!), the button pops out. Is there any way of fixing, replacing, or repairing this piece so it won't do that?

Thanks in advance.

Robyn, mine did the same thing. Actually my inconsiderate friend that tried to find anything wrong with the P-Car pulled it off screwing around in the car (must be a jealousy thing to point these things out since he can't afford a P-Car). Always trying to find something to point out and be able to say "$100K and it is falling apart". Whatever!

Anyway, back to your question. I just snapped it back in and haven't had a problem since.

By the way, you are referring to the little silver button at the end of the eBrake handle that you depress to release it right?

RobynC, this happened to my 2000 Carrera. The whole carbon fiber hand brake was replaced under warrentee. That was the only fix according to the Porsche Dealer.

Yes, that's the button LV. I've tried popping it back in, twisting it...it just doesn't catch.

It's a real PIA because if I just pull the brake up, it' pops out and falls between the seat and the console...and I can't go anywhere without having to dig. So I have to be good and hold the button while I lift (which is probably better anyway).

It's an OEM part, but because it didn't come with the car and I didn't buy it from Porsche, I don't think they would help me out with it...although I haven't asked. Hmmm...it's worth a try Ron, I might go in and ask my most totally awesome and incredible (He sometimes reads the posts on this board..lol...but truly he is a super Svc Manager) Service Manager Eric and see if he can help me out on it.

Thanks guys!

I would just show up at the dealer and say "my handbrake isn't working properly. Porsche part on a Porsche car and I don't think they will say "I don't remember you buying this genuine part from us"...claim denied. Very unlikely.

Besides nobody want the scorn of a P-Car owning female! Just ask my service manager about taking my wife for granted and treating her the first time as a "dumb blonde trophy wife". They quickly understand that looks can be decieving since she holds an M.D. and has an IQ higher than the combined IQ's of the 2 service idiots that treated her that way. Now they bend over backward to help her out. Blonde, beautiful, AND smart. I know, I am very lucky..and so now are the service guys!

My service department and manager is wonderful...they treat me quite equally and have been terrific. I have no qualms. But I am huge on picking my battles as far as asking for favors and such...because they have done a lot of stuff for me. (Including my helping me out with a halloween costume) I will mention it to him and see if he can help me out....I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the story too, love to hear that stuff. It is rather interesting the perception some men get just because I'm a woman...let alone blond.
