I am Jeph, I need a C4S
an awd is alot quicker coming out of a corner. it was designed for stability and still drives like a 2wd. Its prob the only awd that is designed this way. Its threshhold to keeping the rear end is longer than the 2wd because its' front wheel helps pull the car out before the rear steps out... its still cant defy physics though... (the 911 is similar to throwing a hammer). The heavy end will always come around regardless of the awd... this topic is also heavily debated and people will say the c2 is more of a drivers car... throttle steer and such. Do a search this topic comes up every once in awhile.
Jeph, I told you this over on 986, your car is amazing and may be my favorite boxster.
That said, you will love the extra power in the 911. I made the same switch 8 months ago and never looked back.

It's a shame, Ken doesn't seem to be into his car at all anymore. It depresses me.

"May be" your favorite? C'mon, what's keeping it from being THE favorite? Ha! Thanks for the compliments. I don't mind the lack of power in the Boxster so much... it just seems too small for me now.
I came to this forum dead set on a C4S, but within 24 hours you guys have me considering a 40th Anniversary.
Well "May be" only because somewhere out there my old boxster is running around. Man, I had that sucker fixed up pretty. The buyer was ironically from Germany and had it shipped overseas.

The only visible aftermarket mod is the Eisenmann Sport muffler.

Drive both, they are the same on the inside !you do not need awd for Dallas and you may fin the rear wheel drive sportier. I have a friend selling a mint 03 black tan six speed in Dallas if you are interested.

The 4S is indeed less likely to spin than a C2, mostly due to the wider rear track and very wide rear tires. When you do get the tail out on the 4S, it's fairly easy to bring it back in line. (The back end only spins up under power, if grip at the rear has been de-tuned - either through suspension setup or tire pressure.) So, if that's a concern you have about driving safety, the 4S would be the better car.
The issue of 120lbs of AWD weight is not even remotely applicable on a street. If racing, on a track, the question of how best to use that weight does becomes valid...
I love it when people insist the 4S is always slower than a C2 on track... and then get passed.
