Car not starting on the first crank

This morning, I get to the car, try to start the car and when I turn the key to crank the car, it doesn't do anything.

I try again and again and finally it starts like normal. The car's been sitting for a few days and I've been driving it a lot less.

Thoughts?

When you say it doesn't do anything.... I'm assuming the starter does not crank at all...right. Sound likes the ignition switch but check your battery terminals for corosion or loose terminals. That's easier than the ignition switch... Also your clutch starter switch if your car is a manual trans.
Good luck..

It is clearly an electrical issue. Either there is no juice from the battery or one of the switches mentioned is cutting it off. I agree those are your best three things to look into. Two other things to pay attention to...
I don't know if the ign switch is in the steering column. If so, try to jiggle the key in the cylinder to see if it makes the ignition switch catch.
Also, just make sure your floor mats are not hindering the full depression of the clutch pedal. I know you just had your clutch replaced. Maybe they got the pedal adjustment a little loose and now the switch is not fully activating.

it's been several months of regular usage post clutch install. just started happening earlier this week and i only drove the car twice so far to work.

i'll check the mat but i doubt that's it. i have a feeling i'll have to put in a new switch. once it starts in the morning, not able to repeat the issue during the day.

Cool

You know....I have experienced the exact same thing....however, it happens randomly.

I was worried that maybe the starter solinoid was going out but it has not done it lately.

i have the same exact problem with my car. i haven't had the issue all summer but with the car sitting more and the colder weather, it seems to happen more often now.

i was suspecting i was't pressing the clutch pedal all the way down but i jam it all the way and it seems to have the same problem

Hey Ben

Next time this takes place try to turn the lights, radio and fan on and then try to crank it over.
This might help you out in trouble shooting it a bit more

If nothing works and it's time to part it out I'll like your wheels, SSK and seats pls.

yea, my car's def been sitting around more since it's busy season for me at work and the weather is in typical seattle mode now + it gets dark at like 4:30PM.

let's do each other a favor and keep each other posted on any fixes. my trusty dealer contact said just keep an eye out and if it gets bad, come in and they'll fix it.

i know it's not user error.

I'll bet it's the clutch switch.
