uh oh......

Ok, last night I think I really over-reved the car while accelerating to avoid getting t-boned by a car running the red light on a street I was turning in to and for a moment it felt like the clutch got stuck on the footboard as I floored it down the street. The smell of "Clutch" in the air was potent.....when I got to the end of the street and had a chance to put it in first, it wasn't smooth at the dead stop and popped out of first initially. But then progressively it got a little better but here's what I'm feeling and noticing so I would love to get everyone's thoughts/perspectives on what (if any) issue I might have:

1.) The stench of clutch is still around a little but getter lesser (aired out)
2.) First and second still click a little to get in to gear (sometimes)
3.) I remember someone mentioning this on the forum when asked if another person needed a new clutch that a good indicator would be that if the flow of the rpm needle is not proportionate of the flow of the speed, then it was time (or something like that)
4.) 3rd through 6th feel stronger than 1st through 2nd

What's everyone's thoughts?

Thanks.

hey bud i think you meant you burnt out the clutch v over revving the engine which would be royally bad.

sounds like the clutch ain't workin' right and there's no shortcut silver bullet here other than getting it all replaced and brand spanking new. i did this at 50K miles and not lookin back. it cost me about $1500 total installed. parts from sunset.

Ben, Dude, you are RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!!! It's burnt out....shot to SH#T...hahahaha...Merry XMAS to myself......

Can you PM me the info on the parts you got from Sunset and a contact for the "CHOI" rate over there......Unfortunately, I need to find a shop around here at a reasonable rate to do the work. $1500 installed seems reasonable, I've had quotes for $2K+ in the past......Just PM me that info when you get a chance bro.....Thanks again man.

Berk

it'll be way easier for you to call up phil coy at sunset (ask for him in porsche parts) and tell him your car and say you want a new clutch including the flywheel (this is what nearly doubled the parts price).

i think i had to add a few new bolts or something. any good porsche indy should be able to tell you exactly what you need, but sunset will take care of you. the choi rate is what everybody else gets which is the best porsche oem parts pricing in the West and we all know the westside is the bestside.

my total install may have been a little north of $1.5 and south of $2 sorry dog i just am not good at keeping track of my records.

are your RPM's spiking when you try to accelerate? of course without proportionate acceleration? cause thats a good indicator that your clutch is shot.

Maybe consider a light weight clutch. Be sure to check the RMS.

you dont say how many miles you have on your clutch.

if you dont have many miles on it, i would wait it out some. you may have just glazed the clutch.

you may still have a lot of life left in the clutch. drive it around some more. it may get better on its own.
