leather or vinyl airbag?

I have an opportunity to purchase either a leather or vinyl airbag from Sumcoast Porsche.

What is everybody's opinion?

I have a SP car w/ black leather (not full leather)

Here's my not so unbiased opinion. Leather mixed with vinyl would look strange. The texture is very different, with vinyl having a raised grain and sort of shiny appearance. The leather is smooth and more mat finished.

Do you need the whole unit or just the airbag cover? The reason my opinion is biased is I am looking for a leather airbag cover in black. I won't horn in on your deal, but can I ask the price they've quoted you?

if ur car doesn't have full leather interior now the leather steering would look out of the place. go whichever matches the car best.

A leather wheel with a vinyl air bag may tie it all together well. A full leather wheel/bag may look out of place.

The first picture is a leather airbag w/ a silver crest. Notice the stitching on the leather. (please disregard the alcantara spelling?? wheel)
The second picture is a vinyl airbag. Which do you prefer?

Do you mean the stitching is on the leather one? I prefer the leather one, but I also have a leather interior so maybe that is what I'm used to.

If you have vinyl and think it will tie in better, I'd go vinyl. Show us a picture of your interior.

I think the leather airbag without the all leather option works well. Most cars out there have partial leather mix already. The door panels are vinyl but the airbags and handles and map pocket lid are leather. The lid on the console is also leather and many have the leather instrument pod as well. The steering wheel is leather with a vinyl airbag so I would go with the leather airbag.

yes, the stitching is on the leather airbag. My Black interior is equipped w/ sports seats and CF shift **** and brake lever. The only upgrade I would consider is the 3-spoke wheel and airbag.

No mincing words, but quite true. Go leather, and if it costs less we shouldn't even be discussing this any longer. I thought you were originally talking about the passenger airbag for some reason.

I had to replace the entire dash in my 99 996. Anything is an improvement over the basketball looking vinyl in the 99. I took the opportunity to upgrade to leather wherever possible...the instrument pod cover and passenger airbag cover. The side airbag covers are already leather, so any additional leather pieces only improve the quality of the interior. The new leather also smells better than fresh vinyl.
