Wood bracket in my Porsche.

I'll try to make a long story short.

2 month ago. my cab top stop working. Had the car towed to a local dealer. Dealer said they need to order a bracket from Germany and to take my car home first.

1 month ago. got a call that said a bracket came in and to bring my car for install.

today. the cab top stop working again. took the car to the dealer. The manager open up the cab cover. and guess what I found. the pump was on a piece of wood about 4"x8" and is held there by wire ties. His expanation was Porsche used to use pumps that has to stand verticle and has stoped using those pumps. The new pumps that Porsche has in stock has to be horizontal and they cannot locate any bracket to hold that pump in place. They were told by Porsche to just use a piece of wood to hold the pump horizontally and it should be okay.

I BOUGHT A 100K CAR AND THE PARTS DEPARTMENT ARE USING STRING TIES TO FIX MY CAR!!!!!!!

WTF

I hear the new remedy for RMS failures is to replace the motor with a gerbil and a wheel...

I can't imagine that Porsche would endorse a "wood and plastic tie" fix for a cab top problem. Take pictures (and post) and if you need an attorney to cc: on the letter to Porsche, I'll happily volunteer.

They found a leak in one of the pumps, I don't know how long they'll have the car.

But I saw them pull apart the cover and I think I can do it after I get my car back and take that pic and post it. They were'nt going to do anything to that homemade bracket so it should still be there. I'll keep you guys posted.

Eric: I only wish I was pulling your leg.

Bobby:

I just might take you up on that offer. I'll wait till I get my car back and take that picture before I'd pm you.

When I saw that contraption under the covers, I did'nt know i should laugh or cry.

Arling: You think Tom could mass produce that wood support?? My car drives like it's on rails. Maybe there is a market for a wood support upgrade.

Peter,

They're trying to copy the Corvette. Don't they use balsa wood in the floors?

That's ****ed up man.
