Sad Sad day

My thoughts go out to the family of the Porsche Test driver who passed away today.
Sad news.

I kept the pictures out of the thread just out of respect.

I met some of the test drivers in Leipzig when I was there this past September and got one of them to take me for a ride in a new GT2 on the test track.

Really sad to hear one of them suffered such a terrible accident. It's obvious that it was a high rate of speed, but that barrier looks to be the cause of the fatality. I've been in a very very bad accident in a Porsche where the car looked much the same and walked away, so these are very safe built cars. Its not so easy to walk away when a crash barrier fails so easily on a road set for no speed limits...

Its an unfortunate set of events and my feelings go out to the family and friends.

Cheers
Aaron

possible but to me it looks like a design flaw in that guard rail

tough way to go. It appears that the chances of survival were impossible given the the way the car submarined the guard rail. godspeed

Steve Germany is infamous around these parts
It was on the news here as a Porsche supercar fatal accident at a speed in excess of 340kpm. A5 is not the best of the autobahns, it is old and narrow compaired to many others. Some of the test drivers have been known to be extreamly agressive. One test Merc driver actually bumped a pregnant mother's bumper causing her to panic and drive off the road killing her and her unborn baby during a street race. That was just two years ago.

Very sorry for his family.
