looking for good 3.4 engine

there's one in every crowd. makes my asking price of $17k with a damaged motor sound pretty reasonable. thanks for the laugh.
For that price you can get two.
Yeah, but all it takes is one person who really wants it. I sold my 04 GT3 with 10,000 miles in December for more than $80,000. The guy could have found a similar one for less than $65,000, but, he either did not know that or didn't care.
I'm gonna stay off my phone today in case someone calls me with an offer.

yep. here is what i've found thus far for e-throttle motor upgrades. my 3.4 is a mech throttle which requires some finesse to change over to an e throttle car.
- Raby a 3.6 rebuild/upgrade that claims to have cured all the ailments of the 3.4 (but he wont say what they are yet) and provide another 20% power, if i recall correctly.
- Fabian can do the 3.6 or 3.8 upgrade with a mech throttle
- Dave White Racing can also do #2

I know I know... from what I've seen the 3.4 is only good for 60,000 miles before something catastrophic happens... I KNOW there are people out there who have higher mileage 996 motors but they are far and few between.... my assumption is it will be a DE car as well seeing 10-15 track days per year... 60K miles is upper limit of longevity for a 3.4 motor for such use...

- Raby quoted $17k for a 3.6 rebuild/upgrade that claims to have cured all the ailments of the 3.4 (but he wont say what they are yet) and provide another 20% power, if i recall correctly.
- Fabian quoted $13k for a 3.6 or approx $8k plus motor for a 3.8
- Dave White Racing quoted $8k + motor for a 3.6 intallation.
Only 1 996 had a mechanical throttle and that was the 99 C2. All other 3.4 engines had E-gas.
sorry. i thought my signature said what year it is. oh wait. it does.
Not all 99's had a mehanical throttle.
I was referencing the OP, anyway.

I will PM you to keep the shops' rates confidential. But it sounds like Fabian Roock is the man for this sort of thing. Dave White racing (Carlos) also sounds very knowledgeable on the matter. he converted his Boxster to a 3.6.
that's not gonna be cheap... a new 3.8 will cost you $15K and the conversion will probably be another 7-8K !!
your car will fly !
lightly used 3.8 x51's on ebay for around $9k and Fabian will get you out the door for another $8k. what can you get if you trade your car and $17k?
there is no x51 3.8 for $9K out there on ebay... that is CHEAP... what's wrong with it... new they are $20K...
Item number: 310133323713
Fabian believes it to be an x51
