My DIY CF Wrap
If you are going to do all that, why not just use real CF????
I like the fact that it IS fabric, and doesn't feel all hard and plastic- like like real CF w/ resin.

You also say you get 95% of the look... I think if it's hard like real CF you're going to be closer to 98% - 100% of the look... So all I'm looking for is what you were looking for, only more of it...
But to each their own - I still appreciate your original post and turning us onto this stuff... I will hedge at this point though... if when I'm done playing with it and it still doesn't look like I want it to, I won't go forward...

I just finished wraping my horseshoe. It came out pretty good...but waht a PITA!

Anyway, right now my strategy is to go with CF wrap on the rear console lid, center console and pads (the two on each side toward the dash) and Arctic Silver on the console and horseshoe (and anything else with holes)...
Good job, though - I really like it. Any lessons learned you can share? That looks like a really tricky piece.

nice job brando. i'm liking this CF wrap project. reminds me of the vinyl wrap job I did in my younger days on my VW Scirocco interior. i really think it will give my all black interior some snappiness on select trim.
brando, is the fabric that flexible? can u use a heat gun on it to better hug around the curves? did u also use this fabric on the hazard and key surrounds?
hoppy easter!

I had to do some nip/tuck to get it looking right on the complex curves.
Best thing I found was some "Craft" formula Krazy Glue. (didn't know such a thing existed). It has a skin guard formula that won't bond skin instantly.
Very useful for finishing the edges and corners.
And no, that is the real CF on the surrounds. I'm glad you thought it might be wrapped, as they do look ok side by side together.
great thread and great results.. definitely going to look into picking some of this stuff up.. I got some ideas..
Brando.. I see what you mean about the horseshoe being a pain in the ****.. the top edges is the area you're talking about right? I think you did a suberb job with the cuts and folds but still would opt to go with a real CF surround as the lines 'give it away'. again, great thread and awesome links by Flyer007.. rep points all around
