Turbo twists - hollow vs solid spokes

Newbie question here. Is there an easy way to tell whether the wheels on my C4S are have hollow or solid spokes? I tried searching but couldn't find an answer.

bjarne996 is infamous around these parts
The Turbo 1 hollow spoke wheels have (width, part number):
7.5 - 993.362.134.05
8 - 993.362.136.00
9 - 993.362.138.00
10 - 993.362.140.00
10 - 993.362.140.01

The turbo 2 hollow spoke wheels have (width, part number):
8 - 996.362.136.04
11 - 996.362.142.03
11 - 996.362.142.11

The part number (with the possible exception of the first 3 digits) should be stamped on the inside of the wheel.

Cool

ALso, just by looking at the back of a wheel, solid spokes will have a groove down each side of the spoke.

Thanks for the quick reply! The car is an '03 996, so I will take a look and see which numbers are stamped on the spokes.

Thanks Brando. The wheels do have two grooves on each spoke so that answers the question without having to lift the car or pulling the wheels to look for the numbers. Thanks guys.

just feel behind the spokes... if its smooth its hollow. If you feel a crease then, it solid. Though Solids are a lot stronger the hollows are lighter... GT2 use solids.

That's what I said.......I thought there was more of a difference. Wish I had of just kept the solids.

Used same scale.......remounted same tires.

Solids - 44.5 lbs F & 55.5 lbs R
Hollow - 42 lbs F & 53 lbs R

Another way to identify them is the use of a metal valve for the turbo ones...
