I like the contrast also. I have a savannah beige interior that has dark wood trim. The wood is disintegrating so I will replace the parts. The outer vents on the sides of the dash have disentigrated. I thought about painting them black, also painted the console black. I wonder about exposed edges though. Asailor on the work you have done the edges are concealed. Do you think it would look bad if they were exposed? I am concerned about wrapping the material right up to the vents.

Great job, inspiring me to do this to mine. I am thinking of working with contrasting black leather on the tunnel console and alantara (in close to savannah beige) on the trim like you did.

 

I would not lea e the edges exposed....all of my edges are covered the material stretches very well...

You ever get to this on your car? What about removing the foam padding underneath the original material. That would leave the Alcantara on top of hard plastic. Is there a way to pad underneath this?

Just remove the leather/vinyl from the trims in one movement, leave the foam and try not to damage it. if you do damage it, you can try foam tape or double sided tape...
I am finishing all the stitching on them, and will post pics soon.

 

Im thinking of doing the rear seat side panels (where the rear speakers are)...mine dont have the fancy stiching or anything...any thoughts....

I'm in the middle of wrap job on my car. I just got a sample of Alcantara from Gulf and i'm not too impressed. There doesn't seem to be much nap on it at all. Maybe my sample piece isn't the greatest...but looking at your pics, there appears to be nap on yours. Do you find that the nap is long enough to brush directions in it or anything?

So far I've got my center area wrapped in microsuede, cheap stuff. It wont be in the sun much. And I love the nap on it. it's very soft. But for the dash n A pillars, I'm going alcantara. supposedly made to stand up to the sun

 

Wow Kriss great timing. I was just about to order some of the black Alcantara from Gulf Fabrics also. I have the same impression as you about the material, no nap as compared to what is on my headliner. I have sent Alcantara Sp.A. an e-mail asking if they have a match for the Porsche headliner material but haven't gotten a response. Where did you get the microsuede at? I was going to cover my tunnel console and door handles, A pillars and such with the black alcantara.

 

i have my center console area (the part between the seats, the shifter, ebrake n stuff) all wrapped in micro suede i purchased from Fabric.com. Only about $14/yrd. $20 w/shipping. I love it. I used this because that part of the car will not be in the sun too much.

I really have no idea how it will stand up to the sun, but another fella i know wrapped his A pillars in something other than Alcantara, and it was faded in 1 yr.

The microsuede from fabric.com should be ok for your headliner i guess.

We don't have many choices for things that will be in the sun...not even ultrasuede, (which is made by the same manufacturers of Alcantara i think), is made to handle sun
