did you simply glue on over the existing leather on the pieces?
how tough do you think the dash would be?

This is freaking awesome!!! Care to post a DIY for everyone? I'm guessing you used that 3M adhesive stuff, right? Can't remember the name, but I've used it to upholster other things before.

The Procedure is fairly simple...

First Good Quality fabric is a must...i used authentic Alcantara for my car Color 9052

I did not remove the original leather just put the alcantara over it...

I used electronic parts cleaner to prep the leather....

3m Spray adheasive is a must i used 3m 90 spray for the majority of the fabric

3m 70 adheasive for the sides/edges... Do not use it for areas of the fabric you will see it soacks through....use the 90 for those areas

Start with the worst parts first i.e. the worst curves or angles....stretch away....

Your hands will get glue all over them...gojo works

If you guys have more questions ask away

Not a fan of that material, but it looks like you did a great job. I know people have mixed feelings, but I plan on doing those pieces with the carbon fiber wrap somebody introduced in another thread.

Im doing same thing!
I did headliner+sunroof, all the pillars including rear lower panels, center console, dash pod and some other parts... but I removed the vinyl under using a heat gun.
good job!!

+1 Gull fabric.

asialors996, did you try adding stitching on alcantara?
gives it a more distinguished look, like on the leather parts on the 996,

We all are MOD ******....haha...getting the plain fabric perfect was a pain never thought of stitching....

CF fabric sounds cool but I'm thinking that stretching it flat around some of the corners will distort the look of the CF

Excellent mod. I was thinking of doing similar things to the dash pod and maybe the dash. I assumed you had to remove the original material like Jam suggests. Found a guy who makes leather pieces for the pod (~$90) and he said I needed to remove the old leather. His also has the stitching. I was thinking of doing the center tunnel console but there are a lot of curves there and assume the stitching would be necessary. What is the contact for Gulf Coast? I have used GAHH for carpet materials but they wanted ~800 for a piece of leather.

removing leather is necessary for most parts, especially if you wanna do the pillars and other big parts, if not it will be too thick and not fit back properly, plus it makes it easy to mold it around trim.
Its a fairly easy mod if you take your time.
I will post pics by next week, when Im finished.
