Which car would you get?
Which car would you get?
I'm in the process of making a decision on a new car. I'm gonna trade in my boxster and get a 996. Here are the 2 final choices:
1. GT3 - had one on order and backed out due to finances. Now I'm back in the game.
2. C4S - with supercharger, PSS9, and 19" wheels
Both cars will look incredible and both will have awesome performance. I'm leaning towards the C4S since this car will be a daily driver. Resale, residual, etc don't mean anything to me cause I will keep the car for a long time. The 997 doesn't look as good as the 996 and I don't see Porsche making the 998 look as good either. I think the 996 will go down as a classic.
So which would you get? Should I worry about supercharger maintenance 5-6 years from now? Thanks

you're location doesnt' warrant a c4s other than personal preference (unless it snows in houston). have you driven the GT3 yet? You're talking about two entirely differnt cars.
Yeah, why not a turbo or a supercharged C2?

skip the c4s, get a turbo or a gt3 . i know u wont regret it, just make sure u don't talk to watt, jack(la) & ben, lj. or u'll end up getting a challenge stradale
keep off u guys, this one ours..
bwa hahah lol

I'm actually moving up to Boston so snow will be an issue. As for the turbo, for some reason...I just didn't think about it. I don't know why I didn't...I guess I just thought they were too expensive. I'll change my search to include the turbo. Thanks

TT. You will love it.
I took a ride in a GT3 the other day and it is an amazing vehicle but can be a bit rough for the daily commute.
The C4S is great but the SC will put a lot of stress on that engine.
The TT is the perfect combination of power and daily feasibility. Sounds like it's time for a test drive!!!

Is price an issue? I think the TT would be the best of all worlds. You get the 4 WD system and the forced induction. Unless the c4s with the SC was really cheap. I agree, as a daily driver the GT3 might be to harsh.
The SC is a mistake if you're looking to hold onto the car for a number of years and plan to drive it a lot. Reliability is a big unknown over the long haul.
No one engineers the cars better than the factory. That's what I love about my GT3, it's a great package right out of the box. I'm fine with the ride quality, you might not be. The bigger isue is the ride height (it scrapes everywhere) and you wouldn't want to drive it in the snow (unless they're paying you to plow the roads).
If you're looking for a daily driver, go with the TT. If you want something to have fun with get a GT3.

You'll need a second car if you chose the GT3 and move to Boston. It won't be drivable in the winter.
I would not buy a SC'd car yet as long term reliability has is unknown and Porsche repairs are expensive.
I would buy a 996TT and drive it all year.
