I got a set of these a month ago and a better alternative than splicing. They are 5MM Leds , (5mm tend to have the longest life and great output).

Yes, that's the one. I just put in two of those in the license plate area. It's very bright at night. Too bright but I like the white output. The 5mm LED's that are used in this light last you a long time.
Also a little bending of the metal clip inside the light housing is needed. I don't have a DIY, but once you get it, you will see it. If you are a good handyman, you can have this installed in 10 minutes max (both sides

The led strip is flexible and water proof. No splicing is needed. All you need to do is insert the two wires on each side of the metal pieces that hold the festoon bulb and thats it. You can either leave your rfestoon bulbs in or in my case I just took both out. I held and hid the strip in place by wedging it between the license plate frame and the license plate. I can post a DIY if your interested. they come in red, yellow, superwhite or green. They are $15 PM me to know where to get them.

damm all these new bulbs and **** LOL.

I have a close friend that works at the Lexus Parts counter and had him pick up a set of the Lexus lights for the plates since i saw a new GS and loved how they looked (just right; not too bright or dark). i mean, it was free but had to cut the bumper just a little bit. either way, all of these mods look good.
