Question HELP: Airbag Failure Light

Hey guys, got an airbag failure light popping up on the 03 C4S. I think what happened is when my buddy moved the seat up on the passenger seat so we could fitr his wife in the back it either disengaged the airbag or unhooked some airbag sensor on the seatbelt. I remember when I got my state safety and emissions inspection done at the local PCar dealer, the same thing happened and they suggested it was something like that and fixed it.

Anyone know how to reset this sensor or the fix? Thanks.

I am thinking the Dealer or an indy with the correct tools will be needed to reset the light.

Durametric software will do it. I live far from any dealer, and my local indy doesn't have the piwis or obd II that's needed to reset the light. the autosupply places like Kragan, etc, have software but their stuff wont clear the air bag light. its either go to the dealer or invest in the Durametric software. Check out the Durametric website, and good luck....

Probably a seat belt receptacle tripping the light. Have it scanned, as someone said Duremetric system can help you diagnose and reset the light after you address the issue. If it is the seat belt receptacle, it is a relatively easy an issue to fix but it does require removal of the seat, and re-stringing of the wire through the seat to the harness.

Let us know what you find out,

Where are you located? I'm in Southern CA and can reset your airbag light...... Don't pay the dealer $100 + dollars to clear your lights.... I'll do it for a six pack.

I had the air bag light come on when I was sitting in the car with the key in the ignition, engine off, seat belt off, and I ejected and reloaded a cd. Really. this bizarre episode and others are likely found using the magic search button here and at renntech. Durametric was the answer for me. I think this whole issue should be part of a pinned forum on renntech called "Porsche mystery issues," or something like that. Loren? so good luck and see if there's an indy or kind person nearby who has the multi-car version of Durametric and is willing to share. There is a posted list of helpful Porsche people on renntech. It's about a 3 minute fix to clear the air bag light. good thoughts...

ya I was doing something similar - left hand on the ignition just turning it over, right hand clicking in the belt buckle to moving the seat up manually. Dash lights ran their course and the airbag light stayed on. I go to an indy near by that can take care of it, but when I recently got my clutch done I also asked them about the low rev rate (idling at about 650rpm). I got the bill and noticed a charge for hooking up their scanner. Don't get me wrong - I don't mind paying for work performed, and everyone needs to make a buck (hell, isn't that why they're in business to begin with ??)...but, I'd just as soon have a fellow driver do a quick scan and reset before I take it in and drop another hundred bucks, especially if this is an isolated incident that was caused by the phantom-wiring-nasties hiding in my car.
