anyone here roll their fenders in socal?
anyone here roll their fenders in socal?
what's up fellas,
so here's a short summary of my situation.
bought a 996c2 with 19" wheels 305-25-19 tire. absolutely no rubbing issues whatsoever (although super bumpy ride). however that size tire is now discontinued so i went with a 295-30-19 tire, now there's rubbing galore over large sweeping bumps on the freeway.
are there any reputable socal shops that roll the rear fenders and do a subtle job? i'm hoping it'll solve my rubbing issues (rear fender is starting to chew up my tires). i also don't want it to be visible from the exterior of the car. i've seen some s2000s that fenders look like they were made out of wavy aluminum foil after an aggressive fender rolling
thanks in advance!

I'm still a newbie, so I'll ask... What's "rolling a fender"? I was asking talking to a guy about getting spacers and he said, if they rub, you can get your fenders rolled... What does that mean and what's involved? What's the downside?
Thanks,
Rudy
Thanks,

Rolling is a technique where the fender lip is rolled up to allow more clearance for the tires. Down side is that the paint may crack and cause premature rust.
If you end up getting this done, let us know how it turned out & how much it cost you. I just changed my 275/30/19 for 295/30/19 & have rubbing issues too. I'm wondering wether it'd be best to change to a 285 width or get my fenders rolled... I'd also like to see before & after pics of a 996 that's been done to see if it gives it a nicer curvier wide look.
it's weird you'd inquire on this since you're the only one being a ****** about it in this thread

i only recognized you because of that ugly ps job u did of your car, well anyways, here's my quick summary of the job

expect to pay ~$100/axle depending on who you get a quote from. or you could rent one and attempt a DIY. a fender roll isn't supposed to show from the exterior, that doesnt stop people from trying it, but i have yet to see one that looks clean

... Oh, & kind of off topic usd0uche, but is your car Zenith Blue or Cobalt Blue Metallic? The color looks pretty nice in that pic you posted.

sure it was
don't see how it was funny, i was just pointing out how it was hypocritical of you to troll in one thread and ask for help in another thread about the same topic
why would someone try to fight me? i stopped getting into fights after high school when i grew up
Zenith Blue, really a hit or miss color with everyone. people are either blown away by how awesome it looks or think its a purple car lol

I just did the fender rolling myself because I'm meticulous in the way I treat my cars and had done it on Honduhs before. My local shops were all going to charge me too much and just use a baseball bat or big bar any way! I thought heck, I'll be more careful and take my time and do a better job any way, so I did it myself. If you call a shop to roll your fenders make sure you ask them HOW they are going to do it. Eastwood makes a special tool to do this that helps minimize the chance for damage and it can be adapted to fit the Porsche wheel carrier.

I know Sharkwerks in SF uses this tool. If you're going to shell out some coin, then make sure some gorilla with a big stick isn't just cranking on your fender in the back of the shop.
