Newbie here. I've had my new-to-me 2001 C2 Cab for a few months now and when I start the engine cold, there is some engine noise that sounds like it has no oil in it for about 3-4 seconds. I'm probably just paranoid but is this a normal thing? It's a 3.4 Tip and I'm running 0-40 Mobile One as recommended. My oil pressure gauge reads 5.0 at start-up and is around 1.5 when hot at idle. The car has 39k mileage.

 

Normal valve train noise. Can be more loud when oil is slightly low. Also don't worry about mild "mayo" in the oil fill. This is the creamy looking stuff in oil fill tube from oil and water mixing. Water comes from condensation since that is the highest point in engine.

I experienced the same thing at the dealership, in front of a mechanic that I trust. He said it was normal due to the oil needing to get back into the valvetrain, after it drained down. No worries.
