I guess if some 19 year old kid (RaphaelP) wants to dis everybody on this site who is the second or third owner of a 996 and bought their car for market price it just shows his terminal case of immaturity. I bought my '99 with 58K miles from the second owner (very fine man who was moving up to a slightly used 997) for $22K. It's a babied 6 speed car and is my 7th Porsche. It is easily the nicest most refined one I have owned and what is great fun about these cars is there is a little left in the budget to refine and personalize them.

Save the condescending bs for someone else, im not impressed.

take the depreciation hit, or take advantage of the depreciation hit...which side is best? Relax people, we all come from different walks, to the same P-car...in due time.
I actually agree with your first paragraph 100%. I always say "the new only lasts a little while." I mean when you look at a used 996 & a brand new Chevy Malibu for the same price, the choice is obvious, lol... As for what you said after the first paragraph, you got my statement all wrong, so read my response to the guy below you.

Hey man, I think you (like a couple of other people) misunderstood what I was trying to say. I may have sounded a bit harsh to you, but I am simply saying it like it is, & that is that manufacturers don't keep us in mind when pricing their parts, they keep that guy that orders his car new in mind. Incase you haven't noticed, my car is an '02 996 which I bought a year ago with 60k miles, so it's pretty obvious that I'm not dissing the used car crowd at all. I'm on the same boat of letting someone else take the depreciation & getting a better car for the money. Relax, just because I say the truth doesn't mean I'm putting anyone down.

Sorry, I GUESS I misunderstood and I didn't notice your car. Glad you're enjoying your nice 996 for mere new Toyletta money (I actually like the new Malibu)! Can't believe what a sweet deal these cars are, although the stock wimpy exhaust tips leave something to be desired.

No hard feelings man, but we P-Car people gotta stick together, lol. Although I admit I understand why you thought I was bashing from the way I said things, I guess I'm just sarcastic like that. It's just I like to have a good laugh, I'm not afraid to poke fun even at MYSELF, which is kind of what I was doing. Anyway, hopefully I'll see you at a meet sometime if we ever end up doing something in SD... & you're right, these ARE a sweet deal. It's funny when people with brand new Tahoes or other cars that cost about the same as my 996 does now are like "WOW! AWESOME CAR" & ask me how much it cost & blah blah, I just think to myself "about the same as you paid for your SUV" lol. Although to tell you the truth, I bought my car RIGHT before the whole economic meltdown happened, so I really regret that I didn't wait 2/3 more months, otherwise I'd be in a Turbo right now. But oh well, that's life. Either way, my C2 has been great & has given me many Smiles per gallon .
