It was SD Sherrif, I tried to talk to him and he just acted like he didn't care and the law is the law.

You can download the California code in pdf format. It's not too hard to understand and read. It's not like it's written in some legal language, it's pretty much plain English. I bought license plate covers for my car in Cali. Got them home, got them installed, and then checked the computer to see what the code said. Covers, even clear, are illegal. I took them off, took them back to the store, and told them they were dumb asses for even selling them... I've seen others pulled over just for fix it ticket stuff. Yeah you have to actually get the ticket signed off by a cop and don't think that they won't check the VIN or plate number to make sure it's actually your car. You get the ticket signed off and then go to the court to pay your fine (which used to be $10, but it sounds like it went up).

I'm buying a new car this weekend with a TechArt bumper and no mount for a front plate. My current P-car with a GT3 front has a plate. I think I'm going to get one of those mounts that screws into the front bumper where the tow hook would screw in. I'll then throw the mount with a plate on it in the front trunk. If a cop pulls me over I'll act dumb, look at the plate missing, fish it out of the trunk and screw it on, and then explain that I just had the car detailed and they must have removed the plate and not replaced it without my knowledge. I doubt a cop would write you up then. If they did, you could also have them sign the fix it ticket after they write it and then just go to pay our fine.

looks like CA is in a bigger financial mess than i thought, bumping up the ticket quota for all the cops

^ yeah, now more than ever, each department has to account for it's existence...

It sucks. Like, redlight camera tickets, I hate that crap. If you want me to pay a fine or a toll to enter your city, fine, do so, but do not kill my perfect driving record because you need to pay some bills... San Mateo, CA sucks! Their cameras even have an illegal agreement with their vendor and the judges won't listen to the argument, even though it's very clearly documented as illegal.

i tried the doctors note for the tint and the judge said no because its permanent. he says if it were something i can take down at night, then its ok. i told him that i drive with my windows down at night, but he wasn't budging. it pisses me off because that night i got the ticket, my windows were down and the cop told me to roll them up... then he gave me a ticket for that. it was a total case of harassment...

the reason there is this law is to protect the police officers. When approaching a car at night, if they can't see inside the car, you can very well greet them with the barrel of a gun when the windows come down. this is understandable, but not in cases like mine where the window was already down.

Friend of mine got a speeding ticket just the other day, 80 over 65mph. He said you can hire a lawyer to fight it. At least, it gets your fine down, and if you're lucky, you can skip the traffic school. I'll post more info once I find out how to do it....

Depends on the county and depends on the lawyer's relationship with the judge. I do know a lot of people who have used lawyers in San Diego and have gotten off, I know counties like Yolo county (for example, up near Thunderhill) are NOT compatible with lawyers and you just end up with a worse fine

Here are some shots of a Stradale that we filmed with our new IR film (reduces 95% of infrared rays) at 60% VLT (visible light transmission). Indoor and outdoor pics.....a very slight classy shade that does not affect any type of wireless transmission signals.

Exclamation Window tinting

Why spend money to get your front windows tinted if you're taking chance of getting stopped by law enforcement.... PLUS ITS ILLEGAL! And you will be wasting your time later in going to court for the fix it ticket. Are people just that dumb? The Law is the Law! Abide by it or suffer the consequences!

If you can afford the porsche you can afford the ticket.

Tint tickets are cheaper than uv damage to the interior.

You can pull tint off really easily and quickly with a handheld steamer btw. I bought one at kmart then used it and returned to to redo the tint on one of my cars

Way to go on your first post!

For those with tinted windows, always roll down your windows when stopped.

In case you get a ticket, have a cop friend sign you off. It's good to have a friend in the LE.

Holy thread revival batman.

Anyone who has ever gone 66mph or more need not whine about breaking petty laws.

I always follow the speed limit. I am not in a hurry to get anywhere. Slow cruiser always gets to his destination.
