Hello new member here with a few questions...

Hi guys i am a audi b5 s4 owner with some serious mods that wants to own a p-car. I would love to get into a porsche, However am a bit weary on what year to buy? I want 6-speed RWD the most powerful motor and the most style (headlamps and the body kit should look modern) In regards to the bodykit...What are the best looking combinations as far as side skirts and bumpers are concerned (and what i should pay) All on a budget. I know if the world was perfect i would just forget about these questions and buy a gt2, But i am trying to get into one cheap as i plan on really modding it. So what would you guys stear me in the direction of? Also is there a particular year i should stay away from? TIA -Rob

Get a 996 Turbo, convert it to RWD, have SharkWerks beef it up with a GT800 kit from Evo, add some PSS9s, & a TechArt bodykit to put the cherry on top. Then step on it & smile forever.

c2mojo is infamous around these parts
Yeah a NA 911 will come up short when compared to a built 2.7TT in a straight line. I had one and loved it but if you are only looking for power than a 996TT is the only way to go. If you looking at other aspects then perhaps a 02-04 C2 with a GT3 kit would suit you.

I still say get a 996TT, they are so cheap now

wow you guys are great straight answers and no flaming the Newb....I think i have found a new home. In regards to the p-car i will not be replacing my S4 with a 996 but something to complimenet it. I have had the s4 since new and it has transisioned into a track car now being gutted cage cobra seats and great power 470 ish on oem rsk04's I would only like to put wheels oem bodykit and suspension on the 996. Are there any years i should stay away from? And btw i am not trying to spend turbo money on it as it will be a DD TIA

I too have a powerful B5 S4. RS6 Turbos, lots of supporting mods. Around 580 at the crank, 470 at the wheels.

I bought a 2000 911 and was dissapointed. I love the look, but the car is not what I expected it to be. If I keep it and supercharge it, then I may give a different answer.

For now... I have it listed for sale on the forum.

Mike

I go on audiforums and audizine.

Yea, they are fun cars. It has Rs6 turbos, awe intercoolers, vast fueling, vast tune, vast meth injection, silicone boost hoses, labree downpipes, cutouts, etc.... I really have way way too much in it. But I love to drive it. And of course, it is really really fast.

But, Im sure you know that.

Well i am kinda in a jam....I have a mk3 range rover hse for the wife a "4 door" Jet my audi S4 and a porsche 996 is now on my mind. I would like to drive the 996 daily s4 for track (probally a backwards logic). I do not drive the s4 in the winter nor would i drive the 996, So i would get another car, a beater for the winter...As for the price, I am certainly looing for a GREAT deal on a early rwd 911. I would want coilovers chip intake exhaust and a clean oem body kit.

I actually have a B5 S4 as well and agree with what the two of you have said about loving that car. I bought an 01 Carrera 4 because I love AWD. While the 996 isn't as fast as my S4 it handles really well and is very different to drive compared to the S4. I am slowly doing mods to the car but it is not my DD. I have an 02 Jetta 1.8T wagon for that.
You should test drive the 996 and see if you like it. If I had the chance to do it again and had your requirements I would look for a C4S rather than just a C4. You will get the 3.6 and also the widebody look similar to the turbo.
Being from the Audi and VW world I will also point of most mods are $$ for thr Porsche. At least when I spent $600 on my chip I got a lot of bang for my buck. You get around 10whp with the chip for the 3.4 Carrera and it costs about $1000!
The supercharger is around $10K and you get around 100hp from it but they are sold as a complete kit. TPC just released an update to theirs which pulled 409whp. There is a thread on here with the video. You could add about 15 more HP to a 3.6 with that kit they stated.
Good luck!
