K&N Cold Air Intake / PSM ABS Error /
I havent had my car that long (few weeks) and it started having this error on the dash saying PSM/ABS Error. I read a couple posts and people mentioned it was the MAF sensor. I had already ordered a K&N Cold Air Intake so I went ahead and installed it last night and now the car runs horrible. It bogs alot and when I let off the gas when coming to a stop it almost dies.
Question: Do I need to replace the MAF sensor ?, is this a known issue, etc ?
Thanks for any response. I'm a Porsche newbie....

Never had a MAF sensor since I put my K&N in 2 ears ago. I just reoiled it to.
They say the problem is from oil getting on the MAF from the oiled filter. But no one at K&N will ever admit to that claim. I have actually talked to people on the phone from K&N and they said that they have done lots of testing and never had an issue, its a myth. I dont believe it. I wrapped my filter in newspaper for the firt night as it would wick away any excess oil.
EDIT : Am I reading this right? did you have issues before installing K&N? First read through and after reading first reply I assumed this happened after CAI install.

same prob....go to the auto store....get some seafoam mass air flow sensor cleaner....take ur maf off...clean well...(spray alot)...and spray the connectors....and it will be like new again....theres alot of oil on the k&n's from the factory
good luck
good luck
The MAF will trigger ABS and PSM codes and lights...the K&N can cause it if you over oil it....I have had mine for 2 years and NO problems...i also clean my MAF with every oil change!!!
My run was running like crap as well i changed the MAF $400 and i replaced the K&N filter with an AEM Oilless filter $50 so far no light or nothing

Did you disconnect the battery while fitting the K&N? If not, the ECU will not understand what caused the increased airflow and will be thowing an error code.
If you did not disconnect the battery, I would start by disconnecting the battery for 1/2 an hour and check if this cures the problem...

When i was on the highway i would cruise then when i gave it gass my rpm's dropped and i had to play with the gas to get my car to run again if i let go of the gas the car would die. I had to pump the gas to get the car started then it just ran like crap. Sounded like someone was motor boating i big set of breasts. I though it was the fuel pump or something but it turned out to just be the MAF. I changed the maf and the filter to the oilless one so far so goood
yeah I didnt disconnect the battery. I did once I had the issue but only kept it off for about 10 seconds and then reconnected it. I'm going to disconnect battery when I get home and go buy some of that MAF cleaner and see what that does.
mine felt like it was gonna die....untill i cleaned the maf
ok, I disconnected the battery (one cable), and cleaned the MAF with some Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner. Left the battery disconnected for a few hours, hooked everything back up and I'm still getting the same issue. Errors on dash and it almost dies when I let off the gas. It also "gasps" for air when I push down hard on the accelerator at idle. Any ideas ?
