Rode in a GT500 Skyline GTR...
This past monday i was invited to media day for an event called GT LIVE at California Speedway. GT LIVE is scheduled for December 18 & 19th and will be a combination of an All stars JGTC (Japanese Grand Touring Championship) and D1 (a drifting competition).
I was able to fulfill one of my automotive dreams. I got to ride along in the RSR drift car, a Porsche Cup Car and the wet dream of race enthusiasts: a GT500 full carbon fiber SKYLINE GTR.
This was by far one of the greatest experiences i've ever had in a car (even better than sex while speeding, well maybe not)
But back to the story...the car was full carbon fiber and i got the full racer experience as i was strapped in by the Nismo Pit crew. The acceleration and braking was unbelievable and the handling was unreal. As the car accelerated, i could feel the interior heat up by a couple degrees and then cool off as we entered a few sharp turns. Then during some s-turns, i anticipated slowing down but instead Yanagida (driver, 2003 Gt300 champ) accelerated and it looked as if he was going to cut the apex's. He took the turns and cleared the apex literally within an inch. The car turned like no other... NO BODY ROLL.. except for my arms and legs being pushed to the side of the car by the g-forces. We took a couple laps around the track and by the time it was over, by soul had to catch up with me... I been made a fan of GT cars forever...
Pictures to come...
