Car and Driver just reviewed Max Performance summer tires and the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's got good marks. Just wondering if anyone has had real world experience with these tires.
I will need tires soon and they seem to be bargain priced considering the review.

 

yea i have them on mine. I honestly love them, they are quite, smooth and grip excellently. I would definitely buy them again without hesitation and recommend them to anyone that does very, very... spirited ... street driving. I havent been on the track with them, so i have no opinion there. I got all 4 tires for about 700 as part of a wheel and tire deal. they are decent in the rain as well.

i have about 1500 miles on them and so far they still look brand new. They have a great looking pattern on them, which is especially sexy on the 295 rears. I went from michelin PS2's on my turbo twists to these, and the article is absolutely right. You wont regret them.

What differences did you notice going from the PS2's to the Hankooks?

Also, what differences did you notice going from 18" wheels to 19" wheels?

Finally, strictly from a performance aspect, do you prefer your current set up or the 18's with PS2's?

Well, the ps2's were mounted on the 18's, and the hankooks on my 19's. turn in was sharper on the ps2's but that could also be attributed to the 18" wheels rather than the wheel brand. In all honesty i prefer the hankooks over the ps2's, they are silent on rough pavement, and just "feel" stickier on twisty mountain roads.

I was able to make the tail slip with the ps2's, but not with the hankooks during aggressive mountain road driving. On tight long, high speed turns, i get more wheel squeel on the ps2's. You just have to try them yourself to get a real feel, but i am not a brand snob like most, quality is quality, regardless of a products price or origin.

If i was going to do a track day, i'd throw the 18's back on simply b/c i dont want to wear out my hankooks, or damage my 19's.

Ske- Are you getting any road rash on the bottom of your rear quarter panels? I am and I wonder how to alleviate it or how to protect the area.

so I ended up getting them for rears and so far so good

 

I could not resist saving over $1K over other tires like PS2's especially after the great review the Hankooks got in Car and Driver. I purchased a set of four a while back and have put about 500 miles on them and they are nice. They mounted up and balanced just fine, look good, are quiet, ride well, and are predictable and well behaved.

Paid $738, free shipping included, for 235/295/19's and just received my $50 rebate from Hankook today. $688 net!

 

i just put on a set. Tirerack has them cheap. Quiet, nice-handling, and goodlooking side profile.

 

Great thread! Leaning towards these tires for my ride. Huge savings from the PS2's. Since I don't track my ride I can always use extra cash in the pocket during these rough economic times..
