996 GT2 or modded 996TT?

Washington roads make me yearn for more out of my car, so I'm thinking about picking up a 996TT to enjoy. As I was looking through some prices, I noticed that the 996 GT2 prices have come down, but are still twice the price of the regular Turbo.

So, I would love to do one of the following:

Buy a 996TT and dump some mod money in there to make it more fun.
Or
Buy a 996 GT2 and have no money left for mods.

Is the GT2 worth it? Or can a regular twin turbo modded properly be a better choice?

Any opinions?

Are these serious questions? Do you know the difference between the two?

They are both widebodies and turbocharged, but the similarities end right about there.

Yes, they are serious questions. I know they are both turbocharged and widebodies.

Here are some differences stock to stock that I know of:

About 39 hp (Porsche 911 Turbo 996 has 415 hp).
• The Porsche GT2 has rear wheel drive and the Turbo has all wheel drive.
• About 350 lbs (the Porsche GT2 weights about 3150 lbs and the Turbo weights 3500 lbs)
• Lower to the ground.
• 2 Seats (Porsche GT2 does not have rear seats like the Turbo)
• $65,500 difference in price (Porsche GT2 base MSRP was about $181,700 and the Turbo’s base MSRP was about $116,200)

My questions were about performance differences between a "regular" 996TT with about 40K in proven mods or a stock GT2.

Just hoping someone with feedback or opinions could chime in...

You should probably post this in the TT and GT2 forums instead of here.
I'd go with a modded TT and save the cash. They didn't call the GT2 the widow maker for no reason.

40k in mods on a tt will destroy a stock gt2 every day of the week, a simple ecu flash for $1500.00 will get you 75-85hp, the tt is not an expensive car to mod, you can get pretty big gains for relatively small investments

post in the tt section, you'll get a ton of info, search as well, its been discussed a lot already

No offense to anyone with a TT, I see a couple a day downtown so it's just a turbo, but a GT2 I stand in awe of them...because they are so rare and cost so much
I'd say go for the widow maker

A GT2 won't even see the light of day in the winter. They are hard enough to drive in the dry. Stick with the AWD.

The skill to drive a TT fast is not much. Which is why I bought one. The GT2 on the other hand takes much more talent to drive near the limit. You decide if you are Mario Andretti or just Mario Averageguy. My 2 cents.

I went from a C4 to the TT and my only regret is buying the C4 in the first place.
