Steering Wheel remove and replace 996TT

I am having trouble removing my 996TT steering wheel. I have disconnected the battery, released the "screws" on the back of the airbag and removed the airbag. However, I am now having trouble getting the primary connector unplugged. Is there a lock of some sort? Also, how do I ensure proper alignment when I replace the wheel? Does the primary bolt (hub) need torqued? Glad for any help...

Are you talking about the yellow plug for the air bag? You have to work it off carefully. as far as making sure the wheel is on straight. I put the wheels center and i marked it then i marked the center of the new wheel and just lined it up worked pretty well for me

I used a small knife on the back side of the connector to get it to move a bit before it would slide off. As for marking the wheel, I used a punch to mark the wheel and shaft at center. Just remember the new wheel won't have the mark when you go to realign it. The Steering wheel nut needs to be torqued once done. Check some other forums for the torque specs.
