Is it a part you are happy with? Did you notice any gains? I was thinking of getting one. Thanks

There IS NO fuel touching the plenum. The paint is not needed for protecting the aluminum from fuel.

I know it comes painted, but why? Is it aluminum? What metal is it that requires it to be painted? Just curious

Instead you just want to be a smart....

If you knew what the Porsche plenum was, you wouldn't have made such a comment.

So we have a poster in the machine shop business for aircraft products(jarrod0073) and a well-known, technical poster on 6speed (1999Porsche911). All I want to know is who is right when it comes to our 996 intake plenum. Do I dare ask Loren on renn?

Two points:

He is talking about aviation fuel which is caustic to many materials, including aluminum. However, our cars run on gasoline and up to 10% alcohol which is not as caustic. I have no idea why he is talking about aviation fuel.

Secondly, no fuel enters the plenum being discussed, so his point doesn't matter regardless of what fuel you are using.

In many cases, the inside of intake tubes and other components are painted to provide a smooth surface encouraging flow. This is a shortcut to polishing or necessary and porous materials.

The fuel is injected downstream of the plenum. This isn't like the throttle-body injection systems of the 1984 model year Corvette, which I believe went to port fuel injection the next year.

Thank you! See, I think for $1000, the inside of the plenum should be polished, just like heads can be ported and polished. If I ever purchase a plenum, I would probably attempt this with a die grinder and various polishing wheels.

Thanks for your post. The new plenums are not coated inside the diversion channels, they have a hand-ported finish to maximize flow. In regards to the comments about price, we are attempting to make this modificatoin more affordable for those who want to try it and is why we have specials going on at all authorized RSS /IPD dealers around the country currently. Hey uber, been awhile, hope you are doing well and having a great summer. The new plenums have a hand-ported finish inside, not polished to a high sheen, but it almost resembles a subtle brushed aluminum look. In testing, this produced a better flow. Feel free to swing by to check one out. Bryan
