Front bumper change C2 to Turbo

I have a 2002 Carrera 2 and replacing the original bumper to a Turbo bumper, I know I have to replace the front bar or cut it down a couple inches on each side, can I use the original ducts, or do I have to replace the rad and brake ducts? Is there anything else I need to buy?

Thanks

is the bumber you are buying designed for the C2 or is it from a turbo, if it's a turbo you'll need some connectors/support on the bottom of the cover as they don't go back as far as the narrow body covers. Are you going fiberglass or poly?

if you are replacing your bumper with an OEM turbo bumper...

Your radiator ducts won't align with the turbo opening. Just take them out. I've been running without ducts for a 1.5 years with no problems in cool miami florida!
You don't need to cut the bumper bar, you can paint the last 3" black so it will blend better. but if you want, you can cut it.
everything will line up except the bottom part, you can go the ghetto way and use tie-wraps, homedepot "L" brackets and get the job done.... or you can cut the bottom portion of your original bumper and use that to bridge the gap. I did that and it's the best way:

It's a nice upgrade.

Thanks for the info, the bumper is OEM Porsche turbo bumper, I was wondering about the ducts, just wondering who has the best prices for the ducts?

Joe, what year is your Porsche? just wondering if the year makes a difference in the bottom pieces?

2002 carrera. I haven't found makers for the ducts unless OEM but those are for turbos only and the front radiators are different on the turbos (bigger) some hack solution is to find a set of turbo ducts and cut them in half, using the part that attach to your radiators plus the turbo part that goes to the vents... I have no problems running ductless.
The bottom of your regular bumper even have like cut-out lines for where you need to cut in order to create this bridge!

i did the tie wraps. they work great. i thought tie wraps were unacceptable until i found out they were used by the factory on the rear bumper of my 2001 Viper GTS.

Thanks for the help guys, I did the change over today, decided to paint the bar flat black instead of cutting, but should have painted the center lower black also, so it shows silver in the center open duct. (next time the bumper comes off, I'll paint it) I left the original ducts in place, and just used trie wraps to secure the bottom.

Do you have any pics of the job? This is an addition I am hoping to make in the near future! Thanks in advance!

The 2004 Carrera 40th Anniversary car has a front bumper that looks exactly like the one for the Turbo and C4S. I don't know if it's structurally any different than the one on the Turbo - maybe it looks the same but has crucial differences that will allow it to mate seamlessly into the narrow body Carrera. I don't know but it might be worth it to make a phone call to the dealer and find out.

I have attached a photo for illustration purposes.

Good luck with the switch. If I don't sell mine, I am looking to either change out the insert on my C4S or get an entire new bumper.

BDPorsche, what type of wheels are those in your avatar? Nice...

SoCal,

They are Victor Equip Lemanns 20' (8.5 front, 10 rear). I am looking to part with them if you know anybody interested... The front tires have a lot of tread left (@ 7/32nd), but the rear tires will need to be replaced. THe rims have some kisses on the edge, but no major damage and look clean.

Thumbs up Reading alot

So it seems that the following is the process.

-Purchase a Turbo bumper
- remove old bumper
- cut off 1" on both ends of bumper bar
- remove ducts
- Install Bumper

Done.

Is this right?

You may be able to save some steps if you get the C4S bumper which looks exactly the same as the Turbo bumper. The black spoiler lip on the C4S is a little different to compensate for the smaller rear deck lid spoiler vs. the larger Turbo one.
