996 Exhaust Upgrade
Earlier this year, I installed Fabspeed Mufflers on my 2000 996 C2; there was a definite sound difference from stock, the Fabspeeds have a deep tone, sound great accelerating 0-60. This past weekend, I replaced them with Porsche Sport Exhaust mufflers; the PSEs are raspy sounding and have a growl to them...this is the sound I prefer.
I am sorry, but you are misinformed. They have a full range of exhausts for Porsche including the NA 996. You can't even compare this exhaust to others - nothing sounds like Kreisiegg. They don't take a half-asssed approach like other manufacturers.
I have fabspeed on my NA 996, which is supposedly the top exhaust brand here (too much hype in my opinion) and other brands do sound similiar to a degree with minor differences...mostly in volume. Not to say it sounds bad, it's just that Kreisiegg is the only brand with a very unique tone with thier exhaust systems and have valve adjustments on how "loud" you want it (trust me...this is a very big plus!)
To each there own, but in my opinion, I don't know how you guys can view kreisiegg video's or even hear it in person and prefer other brands. Insanity.
With all that said, they are pricier, but so well worth it! For a NA 996, its around $4700. I can get at least a 10% discount, and up to 20% if I can get a large enough group buy going. PM me if you are interested! I can't wait to get these fitted on my car. BTW, the group buy discount applies if I can get Turbo exhausts, GT's etc purchasers interested as well, not just NA 996's....the more orders, the bigger the discount for all of us!

1. I Never stated they didn't make one for 996 NA, Vivid Racing didn't show one on the site that is why I said, "I'm not sure...".
2. I agreed with "Ruey220" that Kreissieg ( FYI- proper spelling is one "g" at the end not two "gg"-
) exhaust sounds the best. The fact of the matter is the average 996 owner is not going to spend $5k on an exhaust (approx. 15% of a depreciating asset), whereas owners of a GT2/3 or Turbo, Ferrari, Lambo will...............and one would think that's why Vivid didn't bother including it on their website. Heck save another 3-4k and you got yourself a supercharger! I'm just sayin............

do you have the kind that has an electronic switch?
what's the weight on the unit? so it can work without the switch?
nice to hear that I have a fellow porsche friend that can help lead toward or against getting the unit. I've changed things on my 996 like old socks and this time I want to get the right thing before I let the car rust.

I have to say, while i'm new to the porsche scene, I love the sound of a high performance exhaust system (Trucks, quads, motorcycles I have had). The more I listen to my tubi exhaust, the happier I am with it. It sounds a lot more similar to my BIL's Fcars, and I definitely get the head turning envy of all the guys at the gas station (the women too, but probably out of annoyance as they just don't get us).
I'll have to ask my BIL what he has on his 911, i know it's after market and he definitely wouldn't cheap out...but I like the sound of mine better.

Kreissieg, fabspeed=weak IMHO. I feel the guys at Fabspeed are very smart guys that make an excellent product! No questions there. However I feel they haven't managed to figure out how to enhance the true natural sound of a Porsche, instead just change it to someting else. PSE, Oettle, oder Cargraphic in that order. Actually, cargraphics sound pretty decent. But PSE sounds how a true Porsche (NOT P-car, show a little respect guys) should. I think oettle sounds closest to PSE and is nearly identical to OEM PSE vacuum function.
Guy in the Cayman, speeding through 1 lane residential is a total a-hole. He could really hurt somebody, hit someone pulling out of driveway, or worse - a child. There's a time a place for having fun and pushing the limits.
I've got Fister Sport Exhaust mufflers on my C4S - they are one version of the "PSE hack". I couldn't be happier with them. Quiet when you are just cruising, loud when you want it to be, no drone. Lots of nice "burble and snap".
Can't beat it for the price, that's for sure.
